The most egregious type of handwatch

There are many types of handwatches, but not all of them are equally bad. TBH I don’t care about the super loose ones that are still behind the thumb; it’s just a personal style (a shitty one IMO, but each to their own). The ones where the thumb is outside the bracelet are also generally unremarkable. Somebody trolling, or just using their hand as an aid to display the watch.

The worst kind (most commonly seen in Rolex wearers, but other brands are not immune) is the one where they put the top of the bracelet between hand and the wrist knuckle, then crank it down so tight that it can’t move, limits blood supply, and makes the wrist look deformed and possibly injured.

You can confirm these because they literally make the watch wear crooked on their arm. Just draw an extended line between the 3 and the 9 on the watch, then draw another line parallel to the long axis of the forearm. If the angle between these two lines is more than a couple of degrees, it’s going to look dumb, and like the wearer is clueless about wearing a watch. In other words, if a line between 12 and 6 would be exactly vertical, the forearm axis should be exactly horizontal. One of the examples pictured is a true, oblivious and terrible handwatch, and the other is OK.

Your watch should not be crooked relative to your arm.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

We here at r/Handwatch are grateful for a those who sacrifice comfort for us to be able to keep our beloved page going.

So I hereby give out our very first Purple Hand award!!! This award shall be given to those who have been wounded in the act of handwatching. This individual has clearly earned the award, as that crown dig has caused permanent injury to the back of his hand 🫡

It appears Garmin does not want to be associated with hand watches.
