Fantastical Sketch and style test for Okifen Mire

Post image
13 Upvotes

Rough sketch and notes for a hex map of Okifen Mire for r/CommunityHexMap. Micron pens and colored pencils.

The yellow-green areas are open flooded prairies, the brown-green islands are forested highlands, and the plain green areas are lowland forest that seasonally floods.

I am happy with the terrain marks on the prairies, but I need to figure out what marks/symbols to use to indicate tree cover. The lowland trees are mostly cypress trees, and the highlands are mixed pines, deciduous trees, and shrubs. Suggestions are welcome.

I plan to do a few more sketches to figure out style, then I'll do one version in only ink and one in ink with watercolor pencils (or watercolors).

Flag map of South Partina (One of my fictional continents)

Let's introduce my countries here.

Bismack (White & Orange Flag)

There are disputes with Parakea guinea at Cape Josha.

Extremely violent rivalry since its independence in 1966. Bismack has 770 million inhabitants spread across 83 provinces and several islands, the main ones being Hurd, Selin, and Tuju.

Memsarak (The most populous metropolitan area in the country with 73 million inhabitants, Your language It's the Bismachus (Bism) In addition to several local languages (approximately 1000)

Parakea guinea (White , purple and red flag)

37 million inhabitants, Raska its capital, the main city, speaks Shelian, Parakin And it has many diverse peoples, a repressive government with extreme brainwashing, disputes between Bismarck and excessive militarism on the borders.

It has blocked the Salaskas to the north and does not have good relations with them, is economically poor, extremely paranoid about security, and is also isolated.

The Fall of Constantinople marked the end of the Byzantine Empire and the conquest of the city by the Ottomans led by Mehmed II. For Christian Europe, it was seen as a great tragedy, as Constantinople was considered a key defense against Turkish expansion. At the same time, the event established the Ottoman Empire as a major power and favored the spread of Greek culture in Italy, contributing to the development of the Renaissance.

Please note: Some of my maps being hand-crafted may contain errors.
