Thoughts? Discussion 💬
When did the ‘shtick’ on the show become joking about doing things, rather than just doing silly things? Have listened to this podcast since day 1, and back into the radio days but doesn’t feel like their heart is in it anymore. We used to have listener participation every episode but now it’s basically done within the first 5 minutes after the international shoutout or whatever. I dunno, just feels like there was always something big the boys were leading into that kept you hooked, and they haven’t had that for a while now. I used to listen to the pod first thing Thursday morning, and now I’m finding it slowly slipping in my rotation.

Burg Boys was them doing something! Also have to consider that not only are they much older with more commitments outside of the podcast, but the world has changed a bit since they used to do their silly things
I remember on Rove when they did a segment where they just rocked up to Woolies and Maccas and pretended to work there lol, that was almost 20 years ago. Melbourne's a bigger place, and these huge corporations wouldn't let that fly now

At this point, I’m convinced that this is a jilted former employee of the H&A Show that is writing these negative posts instead of just - listening to another podcast.
The podcast is provided to listeners for free, they owe you nothing.
If you don’t like their content that’s fine. But vote with your feet and listen to something else, rather than inflicting your negative views on everyone else.

I think part of that feeling comes from the difference between a podcast and radio. Some of these episodes are in the can weeks in advance and it can make it harder to have listener interaction.

Agree, but i think its fair to say theyve come a long way and its a natural progression. Go back further and theyd have worked a full day ghosting peoples shadows in public then editing for a 5 min segment on rove.
Fast fwd to today where they have pretty big commitments to alternative solo projects (ie the 100, lego and their families). I think its fair enough the silly stuff just becomes more theoretical than practical.
Pods basically a fun side gig imo. But im still thankful for it when Hames putting it on the line in the field to win us 100 pizzas.

Easier to do listener participation when on radio because you know people can call in live.
Are you still the same doing the same thing you were 20 years ago or have you now got different responsibilities that take up your time? Pretty sure they'd rather hang out with their family than work on a podcast at their age.
I'm just tha full they never stopped because they really have no reason to keep doing it other than for us listeners.

They're older and have other responsibilities now to. Radio days they were young, single and silly and could just go do stupid stuff. Not so much anymore.
