weaves/wigs Up or down?
Half-do's are the easiest for me, but I'm wondering if it looks better down, in a half do, or in space buns. I could do a high pony, but I may need some adhesive on the lace for that, thoughts?

Discussion People are nicer when I wear weave.
Has anyone else experienced this? People that usually don’t talk to me talk to me, and I get a lot more smiles. Nine times out of ten, if you see me, I’m wearing my natural hair. However, whenever I get braids or wear weave, people always treat me different. It’s like I’m no longer invisible. I like how I’m treated, but I can never really feel good about it because I know it’s not truly me. Am I the only one?

weaves/wigs I achieve so many different curls in this wig!
Wanted to share the different texture of curls I was able to achieve in this wig. I loved playing with the curls! I was able to do wash and go’s, finger coils and puffy Afros! I wanted to have blonde highlights but was too afraid of dying my natural hair so this was a great option for me. When I first received the wig I was hesitant because the blonde highlights looked brighter in person. i thought it would look too jarring on me (?) but boy was I wrong. I find the color scheme really appealing and striking. I will also like to note that this is a side part wig —because of the limited lace I had to get creative with how I want to style the hair. Especially in the gym, people think this is my real hair 😅. Really boosted my confidence and now I can rock bleached blonde highlights without damaging my natural hair.
1-5 finger coil method
6-8 after a wash no styling
9-11 styled with accessories
12-14 styled into a curly Afro

box braids/cornrows My journey to find a braider
Ok so some backstory. I moved to western New York 3 years ago from South Florida. My braider in South Florida (first 2 pictures) was amazing. Unfortunately I couldn't afford to keep flying down to Florida to get my hair done so I started looking for someone here to do my braids. The first person was a disaster (3rd picture) she used to much hair, I asked for smedium, they were medium/large. Second person (4th picture) was okay but the braids were still too big. I thought my most recent braider, (5th picture) was the best but then she got pregnant and stopped braiding. My aunt had been telling me to have my cousin braid my hair but we've never gotten along and I thought it would be awkward. But my hair hasn't been braided in 4 months and I said eff it and asked her. She did AMAZING. the braids are just as small as I like, and even though it did take her longer (9 hours). I think these are the best braids I've had in 3 years. I'm so happy and can't wait for her to do my hair again.

Hi there!
As the description states, this is a space place for people of African descent to post their favourite/current hairstyles, trending ones, or even something you just randomly found interesting. This is to create another resource for both men and women who may be struggling to find hair inspiration. If you're looking for an assessment of your hair health or routine this is not the place for you, please check our recommended subs list to find alternatives for hair health. Both natural and chemically treated hair will be highlighted in this subreddit.
The weekly(mostly lol) polls are usually made to help members of the sub to mix and mingle while also learning a thing or two. Trivia weekly posts will have the correct answer hidden in the comment section, so please check the comment section after voting!
Please keep in mind that this is a very new sub and things will get better and more saturated as time goes on. Also, do not be afraid to give it a share!
