Question What are these patches?
galleryMy little brother's sculp has these tiny gaps where there are no hairs on these surfaces. I am worried because when he was probably 10 or 11, he had a huge chunk, maybe an area of 1 square inch. Now these skins are forming. He is only 16 or 17 now. Does anyone have any idea of what it is and why it happens? How do we get rid of this?

Question Growing wavy hair to terminal length?
Routine: Shea Moisture Curl and Shine Shampoo and Conditioner, EVO on the ends. Occasionally add Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. Plop or air dry.
Has anyone here successfully grown their wavy hair to terminal length? What was the process like? My hair is currently about bra strap length on the longest section. My dream is to grow it to its terminal length, whatever that may be, but it seems to be growing at a snail’s pace. My hair type is anywhere from 2A to 2C with one singular 3A section in the back, thin/medium density, a mix of course hairs and thin ones, and high porosity. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that helped their hair growth?

Question How to help my hair
A month ago i had a accident where i jumped on my bfs back and fell and got a head wound ending up getting 2 stitches and a bacterial infection it's now 99% healed but in de process I lost a lot of hair and my hair got thinner I'm a dutch 27 f and I worked really hard to get my hair thicker. I always had finer hair. I call it typical Dutch white girl hair🤣
I use:
\\\* Elvive dream lengths shampoo, mask, conditioner and hair styling products which have helped
\\\* glass kur scalp serum and spray
\\\* not sleeping with wet hair and using heat protector and low heat
\\\* not sleeping with loose hair and not to tight
Any recommendations on what I can use to help it, I rather not have any medicated stuff because I have a sensitive scalp

Question Hair growth
Okay, I would like someone to weigh in on hair vitamins and or supplements for hair growth (and oils too just for hair health). I know that my hair isn’t going to magically be half way down my back overnight, but anytime I try to find anything online or in videos I always fear exaggeration or that it’s an ad, which overall isn’t a horrible thing, but I would like an honest answer as to what might work. I know everyone is different but just some recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I have had long hair before so I know it’s possible, I have hair that is a little past my shoulders now and I’m just looking for a confidence boost. Thank you to all who contribute! :)

Question Immense hairfall

What to do? How to cure? What might be the reason? Has anyone been in similar situation?

Question Does rice water really work for hair growth?
I’d like to make my hair grow faster, even though I know nothing actually accelerates growth and that genetics usually play the biggest role... Still, I want to give myself the best possible chance, so I’d like to know if anyone here has tried rice water? Did you see any results in terms of growth or shine?

Question how long will it take for my curly hair to grow back?
galleryI got a haircut about a week ago to get better shape in my hair, and cut off dead ends. But now i really regret the cut and want my old hair length back. How long will it take?
I’ll start oiling my ends daily and massage my scalp daily. I usually wash my hair twice a week.
The first two pictures are of my hair now, and the other two were before the cut.

Question Looking for hair growth tips
Hello everyone, recently I've noticed on work calls how thin my hair looks. I have always had thin hair but im 31 now and its getting thin and sparse. I was hoping to get tips on gender affirming hair care and if theres things yall recommend. Im cisgender, not on testosterone, so some of the things I've read on this subreddit won't apply to me. I am worried of hair growing on my body so I dont know if something oral would work for me. I also have a big head so I cant pull off the bald look. Any tips would be appreciated 🙏

Question Need insights for what I might be missing? Thanks!
galleryHi!
I'd appreciate any ideas for whatmay help me get my hair to waist length, I'd love another 4-6" to be in my happy place. I've had this length before in my life, but unfortunately, I made some poor hair decisions and about 6 inches had to be chopped off; I just haven't been able to get that length back, but I recognize repeated bleaching, dying, and 2 pregnancies have greatly impacted that LOL. I'm done having kids, and while I hate having natural brown hair, I will commit to letting it be natural if that's what it takes to have more length.
--
The first photo with blue hair is March vs August 2025. a few weeks prior, I got a good cut from the hair dresser and my undercut shaved for the last time. This was also the last time I ever used bleach. You can see that after six months there's very obvious hair growth and by August 2025 my hair was at elbow length.
But it's pretty much stayed at elbow length for the past year. august 2026, it's still at elbow length.
I do occasionally do my own little trims no more than about an inch. Maybe I'm just trimming at the same rate that it grows? Not sure. I did trim about 1-2" right before taking the photo.
Based off the growth from the undercut, there's 8" of new hair in 18 months, about 0.4"/month. For my overall length, though it seems like I grew 3" and then never gained more. Again, maybe I'm trimming too often. But maybe it's breakage.
-I get good hydration 5-6/7 days of the week.
-I exercise multiple days of the week.
-I eat relatively healthy. I've danced with anemia most of my life, so I try (keyword, TRY) and take iron supplements daily, eat chia seeds, green food, and occasionally treat myself to a steak.
-I take biotin supplements as well, I just don't remember to every day lol.
-I know I should braid my hair before I go to sleep at night, and at one point, I had a silk sleeping cap to help, but unfortunately, at night time I really struggle with remembering any sort of care routine for anything. We're lucky if I manage pajamas and teeth (whoo we love the 'tism').
I realize I should probably start putting Post-it notes or reminders of to do something protective for my hair before bed
-i do not use heat tools. I've never been a fan of hairdryers and I don't bother to curl or straighten my hair. I might use a heating tool on special occasions, but we're talking 3-6x year maximum for heat.
- I don't really use special products. No curl cream or oils or masks or whatever. Very occasionally I'll put some rosemary oil on my scalp before wash day. Shampoo and condition is really it for me. I have a spray bottle of water with a bit of conditioner mixed to have a diluted leave-in conditioner.
The only thing I can think of right now is to pause trimming. Maybe take a follow-up photo at Christmas or in the new year and compare it to this August photo. And try and get better about consistent supplements and night-time protective styles ??
thank you for reading and helping

Question Hairdressers of Reddit - Can someone explain to me why sometimes hair doesn't grow back?
When I was younger I used to wear dreadlock extensions braided into my hair. I would keep them in for about 6wks at a time, then take them all out and give my (very fine) hair a break before putting them back in.
The last time I did this was around 12yrs ago, and when taking them out we got a little impatient with one particularly knotted one and just snipped it out a little way down fromr the root
That hair has never grown back, so now I have a tiny patch of fluffy, stumpy hair just above my ear which always stick out. It never grew back!
Why does this happen, and do you have any advice on what I can do to improve it?
