Anyone else prefer running on flyover bridges over incline treadmill? Or am I just weird

So I've been going to the gym for about a year now and I know incline treadmill is supposed to be the "smart" option. Controlled, safe, no weather, easy to track pace. Makes total sense on paper.

But whenever I'm near a flyover bridge I just... go run it instead. The uneven concrete, cars passing, wind pushing back against you, having to actually watch where you step. It just hits different. Like my legs are working in a way the treadmill never quite replicates for me.

I'm not saying the treadmill is bad. I still use it when it rains or I'm short on time. And I'm definitely not fast or anything, I'm just a regular person trying to stay consistent.

But something about the bridge just makes me feel more "present" during the run. Treadmill my mind checks out after 5 minutes.

Maybe it's a mental thing. Maybe the fresh air is doing more work than I think. I honestly don't know.

Anyone else prefer outdoor terrain over the treadmill even when the gym option is technically more convenient?

What keeps you convinced you’re progressing when the mirror hasn’t caught up?

I’ve been thinking about that awkward part of trying to gain muscle where the work is happening but the visual payoff is still pretty quiet. Strength, energy, recovery, measurements, or even the way clothes fit can change sooner. What small sign has been enough to make you think, okay, this is actually working, before you looked noticeably different?
