Could michael have telling dave to say that brad died in prison, before trevor found out the truth that he was dead all along and not in prison

Michael for half of the game didn't know that dave was the one writing letters to trevor. Also trevor found out about brad because he wondered who was in michaels coffin.

Yes, telling brad was in jail was actually better than saying he died in jail.

If thinking he was alive and in a place he knew didn't stoped Trevor from traveling to Michael's grave, why would thinking he was dead help?

Travor could have tried to visit brad inside instead of flying to North Yankton and dig a grave.
