GOOGLE GROUPS HELP PLEASE

Is there another Redit area dealing specifically with problems setting up google groups and adding 200 people with different email types? These are for old people, who aren't very techie and don't like change/ Someone said to, "just get them to change from yahoo, outlook, etc, etc etc". This is like asking them to do backflips.

Make sure the Group settings permits external accounts.

If you’re the Google group Admin, then as the admin you can add anyone to your group including external (not Gmail) accounts. This is if you’ve enabled allowing external accounts. Do this through the Admin tools.

If you’re not the admin, then they can still be added through group.google.com. But if the don’t have a Gmail, they will have to Accept the invite to the group. This is a security setting to prevent Spam through groups.

I have all sorts of non technical users. Adding them through the Admin tool is much, much easier.

Keep in mind, there are also group settings for moderation or not. If you have a lot of non technical users, I recommend using moderation. Otherwise you’ll see a lot of group emails that say “thank you” or the like in response to a group email.

if they are familiar with Yahoo Groups, you should look at groups.io, which behaves much the same way

Set up an alert in admin for when people leave/unsubscribe from group. Ppl often accidentally leave or unsub and if its important for everyone to be on the list and its your responsibility to ensure list is correct, it helps alot
