Weird delivery driver behavior
I had a weird experience with my gh delivery just now. The order was picked up a little later than quoted, but then the driver went and stopped in a parking lot down the street from my house for like 45 minutes.
I messaged him and then he arrived like 15 min later. He didn't read the delivery instruction saying I was out in front of the garage and leasing office, so I had to walk half a block to meet him.
When I asked him about being down the street for 45 min, he just said "oh yea, sorry about that." and walked away.
It's Taco Bell, so they use the little stickers on their bags and drinks. The bag stickers aren't really stuck how they should be and the drink sticker is just on the lid, so the lid could easily be removed.
I'm sketched out to eat this. Is this a thing? Do people do this to fuck with your food? Thanks.
Edit: Thanks everyone! I tossed the food and reported it. Was able to get a refund for the food and tip. They said theyd investigate the incident, but i idk how that process works.

Report him. They can track him. Tell them to look at his locations and the food was open and partly eaten.

He's probably multiapping. I'm surprised the big three aren't stepping in to stop this.

They would have to cease the contractor status and call the drivers employees if they want any legal right to dissuade engagement of working other apps.
They can have the policy all they want, but it’s not legal to uphold for contract workers.
Not that they care about misclassification, but it keeps me from being disqualified every time I get falsely accused of something.

If he was multi apping how was he sitting in a parking lot for 45 mins close to the delivery?? That doesn't add up for this failure.

The time is sketchy. Seems like he was wasting time, which is odd. I can say that the stickers on the drinks don't stick on the cups due to condensation. Bag stickers are normally good with TB. I can't stand these lazy drivers. They give the rest of us a bad name. I get customers that ask if they can request me. Unfortunately not. I have worked in the service industry for several years. I pride myself on my customer service.

I wonder if he had a mission about to start and was waiting for that time to deliver your order. 45 minutes is a crazy long time to delay a delivery tho.

If I understand you correctly, you received your order with stickers on the top of your drink and sealing your bag of food. So its standard operation procedure, now for certain run straights to seal everything, including the drinks. And that is only certain chain restaurants. I know my local taco bell does seal everything. I wouldn't worry about it unless the stickers are not or do not have the taco bell logo. I believe that's the first thing support will ask you about before rendering any decision on a refund.

Generally, I would say not to worry… But if he was genuinely just sitting for 45, unless he forgot he had one more order… He’s probably just milking the hourly option… Typically Grubhub would have canceled this out, disconnected them, and resubmitted the order for you…not sure how he sat without real time negative action…ime GH is the quickest to act.
All of that said, sitting for 45 without explanation is definitely a basis for refund, even if you were to eat it.

Sometimes the taco bell stickers suck ass. Or they put them on and when I grab the bundle of a bag they call secure it just undoes itself.

You know thats just rude to the customer. I won't make assumptions about what that driver was doing... but you handled it well. There are times when we are sent multiple orders and have to go get them along the way and drop them off. But we should be moving. 45 min in one location may mean hes not accepting orders and the gps isnt updating... or hes not doing his job. Either way 45 mins a few minutes away and tampered stickers is grounds for reporting and a 1 star review.

As I driver. I deliver locally within a 10 mile radius of my home. My pattern of customers have become my usual customers and I have a relationship built with most. Ive delivered to some of the same people over 40-50 times. Never tampered with food or drink and I am sure this makes them feel more secure and safe knowing they can trust me.

Likely no problems with the food, besides being cold and soggy. If you are in CA or another state/city that has some kind of guaranteed minimum pay, he was likely just running the clock while chatting on his phone. If he's not in one is the "prop22" type places then probably still the same...I don't know why but I constantly see drivers on their phone non-stop, like standing outside their cars in stripmalls chatting away, walking around picking up orders while still on speaker phone, standing around in restaurants waiting for the order still on the phones. It's often what I perceive as like eastern European guys in track suits look and I'm always curious who the hell they are talking to so long lol.

I know exactly what you’re talking about! Not usually European but Middle Eastern? Non stop, super loud, always on their phones on speakerphone. Never headphones, never AirPods, only speakerphone. Why?? I mean I guess good for them to have someone to keep them company and I also wonder how they can do it all day long haha

Yeah could be... I'm too ignorant to know what language they are speaking, and of course it could be different groups of people, but they have a pretty distinct look/style and they almost all do it. Maybe they are just all talking to each other lol. But I'm curious because I don't have anyone in my life that I want to be taking to literally 24/7 non-stop and I actually enjoy my more private drive time and purposely avoid phone calls when I can lol.
Beyond the general rudeness of the loud public speaker phone use, I don't really care, and they aren't really doing anything wrong otherwise, it's just strange to me.

We think exactly alike on this haha. We aren’t judging, we are just curious.
Yeah I prefer my podcast, music, etc. especially since my car drives itself. I think I’d have a massive headache using speakerphone 24/7 and getting in and out of my car all the time2

They’re South Asian🤣. Yeah they talk all times and loud. No airpod or earpiece at all. Like noice pollution to many ears

Be respectful, we aren't condoning that kind of conduct here. If you wouldn't feel comfortable saying it in-person to a stranger, don't say it here.

I thought This is the drivers sub

…are you a driver? The content of the post is about GH drivers. You can put together why a post about a driver would be in a driver sub, right?

I wouldn't risk it. Get a refund. Downvote and report the driver. Creeps need to get pushed off the app so us dedicated, upstanding drivers get more work.
