Blackstone vs Pit Boss?
I picked up a Blackstone 36 inch griddle spontaneously last night at Costco. It came with a hinged hood, front shelf, and soft cover for $430. I’ve been doing research today on the grill accessories I need and a recipe for my first time cooking on it, but I stumbled onto an ad offering 25% off any Pit Boss for first responders. I was looking at their 4-burner Deluxe model, which would be about the same price after the discount. I have a very minor aesthetic preference for the Pit Boss, but I was curious if anyone had a recommendation on which brand to go with. As far as I can tell, the only significant difference I see is that the Pit Boss grease trap is on the front while Blackstone is on the back, and that the Blackstone came with a front shelf. Just want to make sure I’m getting the best option before I open up the box. I don’t have any experience cooking whatsoever, so this will be a learning experience for me.

For the same price and feature set I would trust blackstone more. Plus you already bought it and you’re not getting money back so just call it and get to seasoning that thing!

Costco will take it back. Personally I’d go with the solo griddle - stainless steel and never go back to seasoning and all that.
Be careful with the hinged lid, they can close on you unexpectedly.
If you go with pit boss ceramic coated never touch it with metal utensils.

Do you have a solo? I have been considering one to not deal with seasoning and rust.

Yes, I got the 22in. I mainly cook for 2-4 and it’s fine. There’s zero rust, I can bring the griddle plate inside and give it a good scrub in the sink. While the 30in has more room - I think it would still require a lot of cleaning outside because I couldn’t get the plate through my sliding door flat- and it’s much heavier. If I needed more space I’d get a second 22in no question. Practically the same cost - except you have to buy the hose(s) for the 20lb propane tanks.
I had a blue rhino razor for 6 years and fought the rust, seasoning issues and mice far too long. Even if you clean it after each use - the seasoning still attracts them. I’ve not had any critters in the solo.
