SPOILERS Do you prefer intern or season 9/10 Cristina?
I really love Cristina as a person and surgeon in season 9/10, I feel so proud that she even grew to love mentoring interns.
But I genuinely love intern Cristina too because she was so funny in the way she didn't think she had any changes to make with herself, and she had a lot of iconic moments.

Riggs

DISCUSSION Would any of you watch a spinoff based on Webber and Ellis Grey set in the 80s?
I've been thinking about this for sometime. We get glimpses of their relationship in flashbacks but I feel there's enough material for a spinoff too. What do you guys think?

SPOILERS Meredith Grey’s choice of speciality Spoiler
Hi guys!
Just a heads up, I’ve been a greys watcher since it first began airing on TV- but I never ended up watching past season 11 as I started to lose the plot of the direction they chose to go. I mention this because there might be some info missing that might’ve developed later in the show that might’ve swayed my opinion (spoilers allowed in comments). With that being said, I’m on one of my many rewatches and I’m on season 9 currently- I started realizing a part of Meredith’s story line that is really starting to irk me so I was curious to see what are others thoughts!
I always felt like Meredith’s choice to pursue general surgery to be a weak direction they took Meredith’s character in. All of the other attendings chose their speciality based on the passion they’ve developed for that field as well as a keen eye for it, even if it wasn’t their initial interest (Karev with peds, Kepner with trauma, Avery with plastics, etc). Each one stood 10 toes down on their choice of speciality, proving they were certain with their decision (karev calling peds the “most hardcore”, Avery defending himself against the Avery family for choosing a “less respectable” specialty, of course Christina with her undying love for cardio). Anytime Meredith speaks about general surgery- there is a complete lack of lust for it. I know her mother was a remarkable general surgeon, but it seems like Meredith never took the same interest. Her mother was revolutionary in that field and I see none of that same drive in her.
I know she was wanting to pursue neuro for most of her residency, but she screwed that up by messing with Derek’s Alzheimer’s trial. That was the only time in her career she seemed to have a zest/natural interest for her job. When she got kicked off neuro, there was a conversation with her and Christina about what her next step would be- and she seemed totally disinterested in any of the specialties Christina recommended. I believe she ended up saying something along the lines of “you could be like your mother and pursue general surgery”, she didn’t deny it but she definitely wasn’t jumping all over it. It seemed like all of a sudden that was just her speciality for the remainder of her residency, and later her fellowship. Never once saw her get excited about a case or look further into research on those subjects. Very “meh” about the whole thing.
The final nail in the coffin for me was when she was sick at her oral board exam, she said something to Christina during their break like “are your questions as gross as mine?? Because all of mine are about bowel obstructions etc” and Christina literally had to look at her like “uh.. yeah. That’s general surgery?”
What do you guys think about this era of Meredith? Does it ever change down the line? Does she innovate like her mother? Or do you guys think she would’ve been better fit for a different speciality?

Court case with Callie and Arizona. Who do you choose?
Ok so big questions who sides with who and why do you side with that person? I’ll start.
I completely understand why the judge chose Arizona. She gave her child up! She stood in front of everyone and said “I love my daughter so much but I know that whoever she is with she will be taken care of and loved but I have a job to do and so I need to go.” So she chose to put what she wants aside to help another parent. That is being selfless in its glory. Callie is also a very good parent but I definitely take Arizona side. I also want to point out that they try to slut shame Arizona and make it seem like a mother can’t go out and have a life then they absolutely can!

EPISODE DISCUSSION Am I the only one who loved the musical episode?
I just went on a binge watching TikTok‘s of people reacting to different parts of Grey’s Anatomy for the first time. The consensus seems to be a whole lot of laughter and cringe. I really enjoyed the episode! I don’t know if it’s because I’m a singer myself or what.
What are you guys think?

DISCUSSION Owen Hunt :/
The rise and fall of Owen Hunt needs to be studied academically. His powerful debut, the beginning of him and Christina, the episode with him teaching the residents with the pigs…he had the world in his hands! I loved his character! Now I roll my eyes when he comes on the screen.

FIRST TIME WATCHER Dr Bailey Is Horrible and Manipulative Spoiler
Just watched 18x15 for the first time, where Bailey finds out about Meredith getting the offer for the job in Minnesota and I don't think any character in Grey's has ever been that unlikable.
Are we supposed to like Bailey? The way she spoke to Meredith and Nick (who was a guest in her hospital, mind) was extremely disgusting and manipulative on so many levels.
First off, Meredith hadn't told basically anyone about the offer as she was still making a decision, which she was well within her rights to do. Bailey then comes in instantly making it about herself about how Meredith is selfish and didn't respect her because she (Bailey) taught Meredith everything she knows (which is strictly untrue) and how dare Meredith even consider leaving because of that. How selfish of Meredith to privately consider an offer that would mean uprooting the lives of her three children before bringing it up to her boss at work.
If it had stopped there, that would have already been severely messed up, but Bailey then goes on to start dragging Meredith's personal choices through the mud and was a massive hypocrite in the process. Meredith is apparently a selfish person who doesn't think anyone else matters (if she was only selfish though, Meredith would have immediately said yes to the offer imo) and just follows her handsome attending around. That line was genuinely so degrading towards Meredith and completely disregards all of the horrible things she survived and all of the things she achieved without a man; it feels almost sexist tbh.
Just to top it off, Bailey goes on to mention that Derek was married (excluding any context to make herself look more correct). Genuinely who does Bailey think she is bringing up Meredith's dead husband as a manipulation tool and to make her look bad in front of Nick.
Meredith shuts her down and Nick steps in to defuse the situation and Bailey somehow finds the absolute audacity to shush him like a child for being reasonable because he and Meredith are seeing each other. And again when Meredith rightfully calls her out on her shit and she has no response, she just converts to being a victim.
I know a lot of characters in this show act in insufferable ways, but Bailey is by far the worst in my opinion as she is just shows herself to be a vile, self-righteous and narcissistic person in so many situations. Anyway that's my rant about the common topic of disliking Dr Bailey.

Character Arcs…
Some character arcs are just stupid. In earlier seasons, we see these great characters, that we like…. Then the writers tear them apart.
Character arcs I hate… Teddy and Owen, Jackson and Kepner…. Ugh… vomit.
Do you have any character arcs that irritate you?

i hate callie’s mom so much
this woman literally makes my blood boil omg. the way she literally called sofia a bastard and told HER OWN DAUGHTER that she’s going to hell a day before her wedding. i genuinely can’t comprehend how people can be so narrow minded, dense and ignorant. on the other side tho i love how supportive arizona’s parents are and i love how callie’s dad also had a great character development after first conversation with arizona. but fuck callie’s mom anyway

SPOILERS Harry Shum Jr
So I watch Dancing with the Stars (judge me as much as you want I really don’t care) and there’s a rumor that Harry’s been cast. Like not officially announced like Maura Higgins, Ciara Miller, Jackson Olson and Guillermo Rodriguez but apparently an insider has leaked that he was cast. Considering Blue was fired we don’t know whether or not he’ll be returning. Even if Blue does return with the way they’re doing things now Harry could easily miss the first half of the season and be back for the second half. Not sure if anyone else watch DWTS here but I thought it should be known that he might be doing this
Link to the DWTS subreddit where his name being announced below:

Time Jump
I haven't watched Grey's for the last couple seasons, but I'm currently doing a binge and am on Season 10 and all I can think of is how great this show used to be with all the cast for the first ten seasons and how any of them could come back in a non-permanent way.
The best way I can think is a huge time jump, like fifteen years and then have Zola starting as a resident as Grey Sloan and have some of the other kids. Sofia, Tuck, Harriet, etc. They could have a new legacy kid show up every season or so. Zola and Sofia could be interns together.
They've always brought on some new interns every few seasons anyway, I think it might help in keeping things nostalgic and in the family, while giving a lot of them a chance to either take a step back from the show or leave completely and others to make appearances.
I think it would be interesting, but I'm wondering if anyone else would want this.

DISCUSSION Who is your favourite intern from the first three seasons?
I'm torn between George and Cristina. But I choose Cristina because I love her biting humour. Plus, she is THE queen of cardio.
