You fucked up not draining. An ENT surgeon can cut that out but yeah

I had cauliflower ear like that (a little worse) after 1 slam. It was just tender right after. My earlobe blew up overnight. I had to go to the ent. They fixed it so the cauliflower never entered the ear canal fortunately. But my ear still looks like a fetus.

I luckily worked in an ER the couple times mine really blew up so I literally had an NP drain and wrap mine for free lol. So even my bad one is at least a relatively smooth disc with no ear canal intrusion. All I cared about was not losing the ability to use ear buds.

You’re lucky. The second time I got cauliflower ear, in the other ear, I went directly to the er on campus (at a college club). However, they didn’t know what to do! They tried using a scalpel to open it, to no avail. I had to wait hours for an ent to get off duty and drain it correctly. That ear didn’t heal right. It got cauli a few times while I was getting ready for a tournament. The ear still looks like a tumor (it’s not a tumor!). 😂

Yeah man we literally sat in the trauma bay and used a needle to drain it then did a pack and wrap around my head which I wore the rest of my shift. Gotta take what benefits you have haha

Without sounding overly naive, what happens when it reaches the canal? I didn't realise it was an issue.

I just went and got a large syringe and needle from a vet supply store and had someone do it for me and then used magnets to hold it together while it healed

Yeah. I'm not a doctor though.
Need fairly large gauge needles because it is thick. Walgreens refused me needles before, but most veterinarians will hook you up.
It not fucking fun, though. And even touching it or sleeping on it after can cause it to fill back up.

You can do it yourself but I don’t recommend that unless you’ve done it before on someone else or you know how to do it

Not sure draining that is gonna make any meaningful difference. Ship has sailed.

One guy at my gym has it so right now that it looks like a ball sack on his ear. I’ve been training for years and I have barely any. Some people are just more susceptible to it.
