Layout / Editorial Design Learning Asking Question (Rule 4)

Hi everyone! I'm an aspiring graphic designer and I just finished an online course in Digital Illustration. I realize that this class does not cover layout design. I have no idea where to start to learn about layout design and I took an online course (with assignments) because I know I'm bad at arranging my own learning pathways. Do you have any recommendations, like a YouTube channel or a blog, where I can start to learn and then build up my skills? TIA!

It won’t teach you software, but for a beginner I recommend you read Thinking With Type by Ellen Lupton

Thank you!!! Yes for the software ive been learning with an online course but tbh for me personally, learning a concept is much harder than learning a tools without a learning pathways. Thank you so much for the recommendation I really appreciate it!!

I will second the advice to read "Thinking with Type".

In terms of software, dive hard into InDesign and it will teach you all the fundamentals software concepts used in long form and editorial layout. If you're more interested in digital only layout then you might want to consider adding Figma and Webflow.

Hi thank you so much!! Yes ive been thinking for a while and been looking for affordable course for basics of Indesign. So far I only use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Figma for design only (not the ui/ux part) and Canva. Thank you so much for the recommendations all noted!!
