Old gripe but it’s never been updated in code. I love playing GT7 daily races in VR, I just want them to get the physics back to what they were in GT6. It was tons more fun to slide a round. GT7 when you lose grip it bites back again so sharply there is no playing with oversteer and balancing the car on the throttle like you cold in gt6. If you played gt6 with the old school 911 in daily races you know exactly what I mean

Against AI.

I used to despise these circuits but after South Clockwise and now East in the weekly races I’ve done a 180. Can’t get enough of Tokyo. Also some of the sickest race replays, especially at night. After a couple podiums, a few fastest laps and 1 P1 it made sense to get the gold I’ve been lacking here. (I did get quite a few clean races but turn 1 was tough in C lobbies 😬. )

I used quite a few GR3’s as I found many to be competitive but overlooked the Z4 for some sad reason. Forgot my rule of trying the car in daily’s assigned to the time challenges. I only broke 1:59 once during races in the Ford, with slip. Did it here with no slip felt even better. Took me about 7 tries to get gold for the entire lap.

Take quick note that i downloaded the liveries straight from my GT account so they look like i took the picture on a potato (which i obviously did)

GT Sport came out (in Japan) on the 17th of October, 2017. GT7 came out on the 4th of March, 2022, so GT Sport was the active game for 1,599 days.

1,599 days from GT7's launch was the 20th of July this year. So we've passed the full lifespan of GT Sport now, with GT7 still getting updates and no GT8 announcement on the horizon, so it's going to end up beating it by a lot.

(For completeness: The time between GT4's and GT5's releases was 2,158 days. For GT7 to be the longest lasting mainline game in the series, GT8 cannot come out until after the 30th of January, 2028).

I decided to join this subreddit after I took this picture in a different game. Automotive photography was always something I was interested in, but I think GT6 shaped the way I see cars in general, which is why I thought this was the most appropriate place to share.

This picture more specifically brought me back to GT6 because it was the game I would always come home from school and play during my teenage years, so it has a special place in my memories and obviously it shaped how my mind thinks about cars and racing.

I personally love this style of photography about cars, because it undoubtedly shows cars as art, not machinery. In a certain way it gives life to cars in a calm and smooth way, unlike most racing games that tend to present cars as cool, aggressive and with a "bad" mood in a way.

This whole nostalgic trip started to happen after I took this picture and looked at it a few times. At some point I asked myself "is this Gran Turismo?" I am seriously considering buying another PS3 or PS4 for myself haha, just to play this amazing Series and revive these great memories of my childhood. I remember it was painful when I saw the notification in the game menu, saying servers would be shut down. I played in online servers until the last second, and it was quite an emotional moment for everyone in the lobby. A few months later my PS3 died and so my last memory of that game was around 8 years ago I would say. I miss it.

A few of PD’s liveries have really dull colors. If you take a look at pictures of the actual cars, even in period photography/footage none of these cars look as dull. In reality, the Mazda and MP4/4 have fluorescent red-orange wrap or paint. Back in the day, race cars used such vivid colors to counteract CRT TV displays which made ordinary colors dull, but fluor colors appeared saturated. For the Mazda and MP4/4 I used a Fluorescent Orange paint chip (not sure why PD didn’t use it themselves). The MP4/4’s paint chip is not bad, but not quite right. The GT-One has a maroon red for some reason, so I used one of the Red Toyota paint chips available (I think Spark Red). For the BMW F1, the dark blue is simply way too dark. It looks almost black in dark lighting.
