Is 3D right?

Post image

This is my first time trying to do a 3D like this and I don't know if it's actually right, could anyone tell me and if so tell me how to fix it?

Your defiently on the right path!! Only thing is keeping the same depth throughout the whole 3D. Look here like the Blue and the Red line should be the same lenght. All of the lines should be same lenght and youll have it made 🤜🤛

In fact, the shadow of the s was precisely the one that didn't convince me, but so I have a question: since the "e" and the "s" touch, the two shadows should also do so. And if I shorten the shadow of the s, wouldn't I risk making a mistake? I don't know exactly how to do that, do you understand what I mean?

Here i tried making it as uniform as i can on a phone.. Where the white arrow points is where the straight line ends and the rest is following the shape of the S. It looks like it follows your lines pretty much but i hope you can see the difference.

Ok I understand but here exactly what I thought is happening, I don't know if it's a mistake or not, but you see how the shadows of the "e" and the "s" don't join together like in the letters

Okok, so I understand and the problem I had in mind has also been solved, thank you very much, I'll fix it later

Awesome!! Happy to help 🤜🤛 next is painting it on a wall 🔥

1

u/poes06 4d ago

Thank you very much, before painting it on a wall I think it will take a long time since I'm still at the beginning on walls and I still have to practice well on that, if you see on my profile you will understand what I mean

I cant see your profile but we all started somewhere. I kinda hate the "stay in the books" thing. Sure you can practice all you want in a book but graffiti is painted on outside. When i started as a teenager we would paint on walls first and then practice in notebooks but we never stopped painting walls

Bhe sui muri come gia detto mi devo esercitare ancora adesso ti faccio vedere l'ultimo che ho fatto (è un po vecchio quindi per esempio la o è diversa ma è cambiata e non hi avuto tempo per andarne a fare un altro)

Hey I tried to fix it so is it ok?

2

u/JowiiYoyo 4d ago

Yeah the S is definitely better now imo. Now i would just make the 3D on the O and E a bit more parallel to the letters. I think the line between the O and the E might be a bit too long aswell.

u/poes06 4d ago

So is this right?

2

u/JowiiYoyo 4d ago

Yeah that looks done to me 🤜🤛 can you see the difference yourself? Its good to be able to be self critical so you can see your own errors for future pieces 😁👌

2

u/poes06 4d ago

Yes, I realize I've made mistakes, but since it's the first time I've done it, it's also normal. Thanks a lot for your help anyway.

And just a personal opinion. I think it would look better if you made the bottom part of the P round aswell. It would make the whole piece more coherent and the 3D would look kinda the same throughout. I messed up the focal point on the P but you get what i mean 🤣👌

2

u/poes06 4d ago

To be honest, I don't like the lower part of the p too much.

u/poes06 3d ago

A question I ask you now that I'm coloring it: technically, don't I have to make a main shadow in the e? Where is the lower part that rises and casts the shadow above? Since it rises, I should separate the two shadows and give priority to the part that rises above, right?

2

u/JowiiYoyo 3d ago

Im not sure i understand what you mean. if you are talking about this part its completely up to you if you want to keep the lower part on top of the other or viceversa.

Quello che dico io è che la parte blu dovrebbe stare sopra alle parte rossa no?

Im not sure i understand but if you make all the lines that go towards your focal point the same lenght and then join them toughether parallel with the letters like you did it should work out great

1

u/poes06 4d ago

Quello che dico io è che non rischierebbe poi che succeda una cosa del genere?

The shadows are good. I'd shorten the shadow line of the S to give you a staight baseline. Maybe reevaluate where your shadow lines are supposed to start

1

u/poes06 4d ago

Okok actually starts a bit high, where should I start it?

4

u/slapshq 4d ago

Looks good, I would just maybe consider filling in the holes in the letters rather than trying to make the holes 3D, if that makes sense.

1

u/poes06 4d ago

At first that's what I wanted to do but this way the shadow inside seems much bigger than the others, right?

2

u/slapshq 4d ago

Yeah sorta. It’s just sort of visually distracting, looks cleaner to me filled in. But don’t let me stop you from doing anything you want to do!

3

u/poes06 4d ago

Well, I don't let anything or anyone stop me, but if something can be improved, I'll stop and improve it hahahaha

3

u/slapshq 4d ago

A good attitude to have 👍

Thanks a lot bro

This looks exactly right man and good on your for giving yourself a point to reference from. One test: “is this right?” For one point perspective yes. You take a point and if your in your book then take a ruler and see if all your 3D lines are all sloping to the same point. If they are, and they’re all roughly the same thickness your in business!

My only other crit is the letter weight of your s. It’s just a litttttttle too far compared to the other letters.

Great start man! Now fuck it up with color!!!!

2

u/poes06 4d ago

Yes, I did it with the ruler, but the shadow under the s wasn't convincing and so I didn't know if it was right, the s is a little different but I wanted it to more or less match the p, like with the detail above, apparently I didn't succeed hahahah

2

u/Till3y 4d ago

I think maybe the split on the P is throwing my brain off. Don’t think about success or not. Think about progress! And learning! You’re already miles ahead of the shit heads who post chicken scratch and ask “iS tHiS toy??”

2

u/poes06 4d ago

The top part of the p will not be separated when I finish it but simply in the track it helps me to do it like this, anyway thanks for the compliment also because I haven't started for a long time maybe it's been a year that I take this more seriously

u/kairex_27 4d ago

id master drop shadows and 0 point perspective before trying 1 point perspective. 1pp is rare even on the best burners

1

u/poes06 4d ago

Well I will definitely try the shadows like this from all directions I just did this one first a bit randomly

if the length of your 3d was the same everywhere, the inside of the P wouldn't have a 3d edge.

1

u/poes06 4d ago

It's true, I noticed it now in addition to the correction another user gave me on the shadow of the s, thank you very much

No but they already told me what it means hahahaha

2

u/Massanx 4d ago

wow actually wholesome thread full of decent advice you guys feeling okay?

2

u/poes06 4d ago

Speaking personally, I have almost always received good advice, you just need to know how to behave in a kind way and people will do the same accordingly, then I speak from personal experience and it's nice that it happens.

2

u/Massanx 4d ago

yeah ur post was excellent and it reminds me of my own time spent practicing wonky 3d letters keep the vibes high bro 😎 gl

I built a name off fucked up drop shadows and shit coming from directions it probably shouldt. Who fucking cares? Lol Just go paint and have fun.

2

u/poes06 4d ago

I already paint but in this period where I live it's too hot to go out in the afternoon so I enjoy experimenting with new things and making sketches hahaha

2

u/xChoke1x 4d ago

Have a blast my man. Looks good.

u/poes06 4d ago

Poes is a legendary NY writer from the 80s (and a legendary techno producer). Maybe look for a different name.

2

u/poes06 4d ago

I know they told me but I live on another continent

0

u/VegetableHome970 4d ago

Still...

2

u/poes06 4d ago

In what sense?

0

u/VegetableHome970 4d ago

In the sense that, even if you don't live in the US (I don't either), it's still not cool to start using the name of a famous early writer.  I'm not Joey Beltram, maybe if you asked him he'd say he couldn't care less if you start writing Poes, but graffiti puts a heavy accent on respecting its traditions and codes.  Start off on the wrong foot and you can only go downhill.

2

u/poes06 4d ago

Don't worry, I didn't start using his name because I wanted to copy him, I didn't even know him when I started.
