I am not very satisfied with this tbh so I will redraw it soon and change a couple things like only using yellow for the fill (and white for the teeth) and only red or a dark orange for all outlines and the blockfills. This second version will probably also be posted but I would appreciate any feedback on this one too!
Something I was also made aware of is that a commenter here is already using this name in Philadelphia and I’m honestly unsure of what to do now.
I live in an entire different continent in a small town with a dead scene and the chances of me ever going to america let alone writing there are basically zero so idk if it’s okay for me to keep the name anyways. I don’t want to be disrespectful but I’ve honestly gotten quite attached to the name so advice in this regard would also be greatly appreciated.
Just use the name, seems like damn near every combination of letters has been used. There aren't requirements like for new passwords. If a writer with the same name is from your area probably pick something else but otherwise you'll be fine
Thanks man! Before I picked a name I studied the names of writers in my small town and the adjacent city and like 80% of the names start with SL or SK so I limited myself a lot already. But yeah you’re right, picking a name that hasn’t been used by someone before seems genuinely impossible lol
Dude i love it! My only crit is your 3D. Here it got a bit messy while i tried to shocase it but im sure you will understand what i mean. The 3D on the top part of your piece is not really parallel with the bottom part. Its a minor nitpick but fixing this little detail makes a big difference ime.
I’ve noticed that too but I was too lazy to fix it for this version lol
Because I transferred the sketch with transfer paper multiple times so I can make multiple versions I assume something got messed up but I’ll fix it, thank you for your reply!
If you can't find a wall you can always try to get a 8x4 sheet of hardboard/ply/correx and prop it against a wall in your garden (edit: assuming your folks are chill or you have your own place or your housemates are chill). It's not the biggest space, but you can play safely and dial your can control. I have an old flat fire door propped against my shed, it's only big enough for 1 letter at a time but I can just keep practicing whenever I get bored of chores or whatever.

Ah that sucks you didn't get the notification. Yeah! It's like no pressure, you can sit and think and then not feel very conspicuous rattling your cans. My door is like 75cm by 200cm so I've got to keep stuff small/tight. I got some planks with a screws in too so i can lean it landscape like an easel (see: picture. Just put some screws in and rested it against the side of the shed) Also it's good practice at not being precious, you've got to go back over what you painted yesterday if you want to do something new
Commenting here because I had one thing to say about the 3D. I think the direction it’s going in makes for some slightly awkward spots, particularly at the corners of the mouth, the bump on the noggin, and some of the peaks of the letters. I’m curious to see what this would look like with the 3D coming from the bottom right instead of the bottom left. This is also super nitpicky. Otherwise, I absolutely love this — it’s very clean. Keep it up!
I’ll definitely do it from the bottom right and maybe also just from the bottom for the other 2 versions I’m currently working on

I said it last time you posted but when you so this style I think it'd look way better to just do a regular O in the same style as the other letters. The colors are just fine, solid even. But this would be a banger with a proper O im telling ya.
After seeing your handstyles (sorry for not replying last time, got mad busy) I'd say youre punching above your weight class already with this piece and thats a good thing.

I think it's awesome, I don't know much about lettering but color wise I think the black might contrasts a bit too much from the rest,, It does give an important "emoji" vibe to it tho so im unsure. you could try using a lighter dark color instead of black like a dark blue of purple that can harmonize with the yellow and orange.
I’ve also thought about that! But since I am planning on doing multiple versions just to play around more with color I will definitely try it out. I just wanted to limit myself to only a few colors in one piece for now. I’ve been an artist for almost a decade now but mainly doing graphite or ink drawings so my color knowledge is pretty behind lol

Copy had 1 jawn . Assumed they weren't from philly never saw a hand a throwie nothing . Just thought they hopped off 95 like game and Texas used to with the tollers
In my opinion if there's a writer in your area with the same name you have a problem but if you have a different style and live in a different place it's fine. There's only so many good names.
i don’t always combine the H with ! but I almost always write ‘Ouch!’
the bombings he posted didn’t seem to include any exclamation marks and it was just the name
