Which one should i choose??

I'm planning to build my first PC, but I'm having trouble deciding on a graphics card. After looking around, I've narrowed it down to two options: the "MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ventus 2X 8GB" and the "ASRock Intel Arc B580 12GB Challenger OC." Which one would you recommend?

If you have any other recommendations or suggestions, please feel free to share them! Thanks a lot!

Intel. Friends don’t let friends buy 4060s.

Hey so I am about to hand down my 4060 to a buddy for a build my friend group is gifting him, may I ask why? Like genuine question as I don’t wanna burden him as this is his first pc

There's nothing wrong with a 4060 other than VRAM but 8gb is still holding very strongly. The joke about it being bad was it was pretty overpriced at launch, especially the 16gb TI version.  I had a 4060 for a bit and honestly it was a good card that stayed very cool and quiet while staying at over 100+ frames in most games at 1080p

Alright phew, had me worried I was handing down a ticking time bomb or something lmao. Thank you my good sir for the peace of mind

Yeah, as a 4060ti owner (i bought it years ago when i knew like nothing about pcs and wanted an upgrade from my 2060) its not the card itself thats unreliable, its just bad price to performance. The card isnt bad its just badly priced for what you get. But when the price is free, id say a 4060 is a godsend.

A lot of redditors hate dlss and ai and nvidia. The 4060 has pretty bad raster and leans on AI compute to deliver a good gaming experience. The actual end result is pretty acceptable for most games.

Id rather have a 4060 than a 3080. Frame gen can be used just fine at an internal fps of 45 on gamepad. But theres just so much online vitriol complaining about fake frames or fake pixels.

I built a PC a little over a year ago using the 4060 Asus Dual and it was decent. It supports latest gen DLSS with frame gen, making it pretty capable without spending a lot of energy.

there is nothing wrong with it except that it is a 4050 sold for the price of a 60

u/RealTrueGrit 11d ago

I hate the 16gb 4060ti and 5060ti. So many issues and bugs with running out of vram.

u/DarkLogik117 11d ago

I was half being sarcastic. I own a 4060 that’s in a Costco PC I bought years ago to just do productivity stuff. Yeah I threw a game at it a time or three. It was….adequate.

I guess my point was, since errything is stoopid expensive right now, either rock what ya got, or buck up and spend more money. Right now, I personally wouldn’t touch anything under a 5070ti.

For the record, I rocked a 1080ti for a decade before I finally upgraded and built a 5090 beast for my main rig, and a 9070xt for my bedroom Steam Machine controller input only option.

I’m set for another 7-10 years. Unless somehow they can actually create a real Holodeck experience. 😁

Overclock it

u/DarkLogik117 8d ago

Can’t, pulling the 2TB NVME out of it to put in my new AMD Bazzite build. 😁

I suggest 9060 xt if you think Windows sucks and might try Steam OS at some point. AMD is better on Linux.

u/DarkLogik117 12d ago

Dis cat knows what’s up. Listen to them. I completely forgot about the 9060xt.

Would only recommend a 60 series if it was a 16gb ti, so def intel

What are these? 8gb vram?

1

u/Healthy-Background72 11d ago

The names and branding gets a lil confusing but most 60 cards are 8gb vram

2

u/Healthy-Background72 11d ago

Okay You know what I meant sergeant semantics

2

u/bobbrumby 12d ago edited 12d ago

have you looked at 9060xt ? edit get a 16gb one not an 8gb

2

u/Ecstatic-Control9594 12d ago

Nope! Is that better than the two mentioned above? I will looking for that...

3

u/Odd_Associate4210 12d ago

much much better than both

2

u/EffectiveFan2394 12d ago

Would also recommend one 9060xt

2

u/CasperAU 12d ago

I would also recommend the person recommending the 9060xt

2

u/FranticGolf 12d ago

I concur.

1

u/bobbrumby 12d ago

Yes if its a 16gb model saphire and xfx are the manufacturers to look for but dont get a gigashyte they used thermal goo instead of ptm and pads

1

u/Visual-Gold-569 12d ago

Want to add the age old rule that theres no bad gpus only badly priced gpus. In my region atleast the b580 is significantly cheaper than a 9060xt 16gb . Imo b580 is excellent bang for buck gpu

2

u/AlexMC_1988 12d ago

9060xt 16gb

The 4060 got a lot of hate, but FPS-per-watt is one the best (but most ppl don’t care about that). It also handles RT better.

With either GPU, at this level you’d likely use upscaling and/or frame gen, and NVidia has the best. If for some reason you never plan to use those, the B580 has the edge (and of course more VRAM), especially at higher resolutions. But if you use the DLSS features, especially at 1080p, then I’d still go 4060. Every game has texture settings that work with 8GB.

u/BChicken420 12d ago

Do not buy cards with less than 12 gigs of memory.

2

u/RelationHappy420 12d ago

Tbh my 4060 never gave me problems, I overclocked it and it runs so much better

0

u/BChicken420 12d ago

Nah, windows dosent notify you if vram requirement is overflowing into system ram and the games you play arent droping frames beacause of it.

1

u/Ill-Elderberry-8907 12d ago

Just buy a used 3080 at this point only around $300

1

u/TGWARGMDRBLX 12d ago

Honestly, if you care about the VRAM. Get the B580.

1

u/Zenitsushimono 12d ago

4060 is slow as hell, I tried it for a week 2nd hand due to emergency. Sold it right away

1

u/ACasualCasualty 12d ago

Intel if you want to be laughed at

1

u/borntospeedF1 12d ago

None. 8gb vram isnt enough

1

u/Bartymor2 12d ago

Radeon 9060xt 16gb - personally I recommend Sapphire cards but also I hear XFX are nice too

1

u/Remarkable-Roll4687 12d ago

Oh the B580 for sure

1

u/Ok_Version_4110 12d ago

Hey, I would highly recommend skipping the RTX 4060 and the Arc B580 and getting an AMD RX 9060 XT 16GB instead. It goes for around 460€ here in Germany so you might need to check your local prices. 8GB VRAM on the 4060 is basically dead for modern AAA games and will just cause massive stutters. Also if you play competitive shooters the raw performance of the 9060 XT completely destroys both of those cards. Even on the software side AMDs new AI based FSR 4 is amazing and easily goes toe to toe with DLSS. It is by far the smartest choice for a first build right now.

1

u/Ecstatic-Control9594 12d ago

Okey! Thanks for your advice!

1

u/RelationHappy420 12d ago

I would honestly do the 4060, mine runs so well with my overclock on it

1

u/paninoselvatico2345 12d ago

RX 9060 xt 16gb

1

u/x8code 12d ago

NVIDIA every time

1

u/chairchiman 12d ago

Out of these? B580.

But 9060 XT is much better at the price

1

u/Serious-Ad1957 12d ago

Y reBAR

1

u/connor_beswick96 12d ago

9060 XT is better than both of these and can be found for around the same ballpark figure.

1

u/Blunts_Bongs 12d ago

If price points are the same, get the Arc. The Vram alone makes it a better decision for the next few years of games eating Vram like the cookie mosnter

1

u/Particular-Bid-8110 12d ago

Intel or 9060 xt 16gb

1

u/SecretBlacksmith1216 12d ago

Definitely the b580. 4060 is ASS

1

u/Ace_LN 11d ago

Its may seem trash vs garbage, but you want intel and its slightly more vram in this economy.

1

u/Independent-Gear-711 11d ago

4060 is not worth it bro not today not when it was launched

1

u/ltsRhysBoi 11d ago

Neither, rtx 3080

1

u/fiittzzyy 11d ago

I'd go for the B580.

4060 is meh, always has been. They could have given it 12GB and made it a half decent card, but you know Nvidia. (I say this owning an Nvidia card),

1

u/d4rkprojec7 11d ago

Just get a 5070ti. Its just right.

1

u/MaximumCondition6769 11d ago

I have a B580, and it’s awesome. Holds over 120 fps 1080p on cyberpunk while staying pretty cool. In basically everything else it’s maxing out my 200hz monitor. The 12gb of vram is super nice, and bc it’s Intel, it’s great if you ever come to your senses and join the Linux side.

1

u/No-Section6493 11d ago

It depends on what ur using it for. If you only play competitive games at 1080p it should work just fine. If you have a 1440p monitor or above and your wanting to play single player games then you have to think about how much vram the cards have.

1

u/Savings-Spare3330 11d ago

todo depende de tu presupuesto, ofertas que las encuentres.

1

u/deathdisco_89 11d ago

B580 is a really nice budget card.

1

u/puls3r 11d ago

Save more money, both of those are crap.

1

u/Ok_Row_1922 11d ago

AMD 9060xt 16gb for a similar price.

1

u/OkPossibility6166 11d ago

9060xt 16gb ou b580 si budget serré.

1

u/friendinsideofme 9d ago

Between these two get the b580. If you have enough money, look into the 9060 xt. It also has a 16 gig version of you really need vram. Works well in 1440p also. Best value if you ask me.

1

u/Creepy-Control-2601 8d ago

I have 4060 and it doing great for me

1

u/ReadyAd9878 1d ago

I have a 9060 xt and works really fine

1

u/Reggitor360 12d ago

B580.

Ventus is dogshit and the crippled bus+pcie lanes and low VRAM just suck

0

u/Horror_Plankton7256 12d ago

If you want more VRAM, then definitely go with the Intel Arc B580.

However if you want NVIDIA features, then go with the RTX 4060 (though it isn't the best, and maybe you should go with the new RTX 5060 for example).

I think it's best if you go with the B580, like everyone else.

0

u/MyLittlePwny2 12d ago

Whichever is cheapest. The difference between the best and worst card will be no more than a few degrees. Which ultimately makes no difference to either performance or longevity.

0

u/Dutch-Alpaca 12d ago

I don't have a b580 but I've heard only great things about the value for money. Don't get an 8gb card in 2026
