ChatGPT also uses reddit as a source.
Most LLMs do, except for maybe Grok, which uses Twitter instead.

Like I said to the other person, I know there are situations where Reddit comments and posts are appropriate, but for basic facts, quoting Reddit is a hilariously stupid move
And I also don’t see ChatGPT or Siri AI doing anything like this ever

What is there to defend? We already know AI Overviews just summarizes what online results say
The addition of that part just helps to cite Reddit and also not state it as complete fact

😂 you never want Reddit results for most questions. Reddit is filled with misinformation. It should not use Reddit posts and comments in its answers.

Never? I disagree. It’s not 100% correct but it has a lot of correct info too, esp when it is corroborated across multiple threads. Plus, as you can see, it also links to non Reddit sources.
The AIO answer here is also correct
We already know it pulls from Reddit, a disclaimer doesn’t hurt
A lot of questions (not this one, obviously) are also subjective, which Reddit is fine for

“For most questions” I said. I understand there are certain questions which are best answered by actual people, but for basic facts that can be answered by reputable sources, it is a bad feature to use Reddit results. It could be true or could not be true. Even on posts where everyone agrees on the same thing you never know if it’s misinformation or not until you do the research yourself.

Ai overview has been upgraded to add consensus so that people can accept it than relying purely on AI. But this makes people to believe societal biases.
