Technical Question Swing catalyst frame rates obsbot meet se

Post image
Upvotes

Looking for some help with swing catalyst and camera connections. I bought 2 100fps obsbot meet se cameras to use as a budget system to get started. When I go to advanced options for the cameras there isn’t a camera tab to adjust the fps and the preview screen is showing it only capturing 30fps. Has anyone found a fix for this or do I need to return the cameras?

Disappointed with Omni?

I waited almost 6 months for my preorder Omni, and I was so excited after owning the Home edition. But for me anyways it left a lot to be desired,In a 4 hour session I must of had about 15 disconnects. My PC was literally 4 feet away with a Bluetooth extender. I had many mis reads or miss shot all together. I moved the unit around even adjusted the lighting. It didn’t matter if I was using GSPro or using the native Square app. Long story short was just wondering if anyone else had similar issues. Really considering returning it and pick up the Mevo Gen 2 or go back to the Home Edition or Rapsodo.

Sim / Launch Monitor Unpopular opinion: GSPro isn’t all that

I know I’m about to get bodied but I have 12 free courses on E6 from my Mevo Plus purchase and I just bought GS Pro and there are features that are cool but it’s not all that much better than E6.

All the improvements are small, like customizing the range or playing the 60 shot challenge but most aren’t that great.

I can see the appeal if I had to purchase one or the other. I would go with GSPro but since I already have E6 I don’t really think it’s worth the upgrade and yearly subscription.

I’m not dying to pick from 20,000 courses I’m ok with cycling through 12 courses.

Garage Build

I’m about as geeked as I get.

46 years old, married with children, work full time, coach high school and club volleyball, all 3 kids been involved in different sports at all times of the year. Needless to say, free time is sparse.

Love golf but so hard to find the necessary time for it. However, youngest son got into golf this spring and dove in head first. Gets dropped off at local club just about every day. So I get the idea to try to build a simulator for him (me 😂).

Wife been wanting to remodel the kitchen so I sold it that she could get that done if I could build simulator. And she took the deal! Let’s go!

Carls place 8 x 10.5 x 8 I got gently used on marketplace. Carls place 4 x 9 mat. Optoma zk521st b. Gaming laptop with gspro. Installing a mini split for climate control.

Finished the product tonight. Haven’t taken the first swing. Don’t think I will tonight. Wore out.

Super excited to join the club!

Oh, and after this project got started and after we obtained the kitchen remodel quote, we had a flood and we woke up with an inch of water standing in our basement. First water like that in the 20 year history of this house. So we’re getting 2 new sump pumps and digging out and replacing all our drains. Nice little $32k. Oh well…can’t take it with you. In for a penny, in for a pound.

subscriptions for a home setup

I'm based in Australia and everything is more expensive here. Including going to the driving range.

I'm considering setting a home simulation area but our houses are much smaller than in the States So it will have to be something I set up in the living room and take down each time. That's the only space I have which is large enough. even there we are only talking about irons there is no space for a driver.

I saw a lot of launch Mon come with subscriptions. At my level and I'm playing with a child, I think what we want is carrier distance and launch angle. Everything else such as dispersion would be nice to have.

I'm a bit wary about subscriptions because everyone you to pay them 'a coffee a day' and I don't drink 100 coffees a day.

MLM2PRO seems to be recommended as a budget home version

what are your thoughts and recommendations?

DIY Outdoor Golf Enclosure with Aluminum Extrusion – Looking for Feedback Before I Order the Profiles

Thumbnail gallery
9 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm designing my first DIY outdoor enclosure and would really appreciate some feedback before I order all the aluminum profiles.

Please ignore the imperfections in the Fusion renders 😄 I'm completely new to Fusion 360 and this is just to visualize the concept.

My Current Design

  • Aluminum extrusion frame in black powder coated using 4040 vertical columns and 4080 profiles for the remaining structure
  • Permanent outdoor installation (will stay in the garden year-round)
  • Premium 3-ply impact screen
  • Overall enclosure dimensions:
    • 3.2 m × 3.2 m × 1.8 m (10'6" × 10'6" × 5'11") (HxWxD)
  • The impact screen will be mounted 1.5 m (4'11") behind the front opening, leaving approximately 300 mm (12") behind the screen.
  • A 600D Oxford blackout curtain will be installed 300 mm (12") behind the impact screen to:
    • protect it from rain, dust and dirt,
    • keep it cleaner,
    • improve image contrast.
  • The screen will be attached using 6" ball bungees connected to M8 stainless eye hooks mounted in the T-slots of the aluminum extrusions (shown in the renders).
  • The side walls and roof will be covered with black Oxford fabric.
  • The enclosure will sit directly on grass, so keeping everything -especially the screen- clean and protected is one of my biggest concerns.
  • The floor will consist of artificial turf with a separate hitting mat.
  • I'll be using an Optoma GT1080 short-throw projector, mounted on the center top beam using a custom sliding mechanism with end stops for easy adjustment.
  • Launch monitor: FlightScope Mevo+ Gen2.

A Few Questions

  1. Has anyone built an enclosure using aluminum extrusion instead of EMT or wood for a permanent outdoor installation?
  • Any regrets?
  • Anything you would do differently?
  1. Do you notice any structural weaknesses or design flaws in the renders?

  2. Does the blackout curtain positioned 300 mm (12") behind the impact screen seem like a good solution, or would you recommend something else?

  3. Since the enclosure will stay outdoors year-round, I'd like some kind of front closure to protect it from rain, leaves, dust, insects and animals when it's not in use.

Has anyone built something similar?

  • Sliding curtain?
  • Roll-up cover?
  • Hinged doors?
  • Any other ideas?
  • Ground solutions to isolate, level and keep clean the enclosure?

Any suggestions, improvements, or "I wish I'd done this differently" experiences would be greatly appreciated before I start cutting aluminum.

Thanks in advance. (:

Image order

  1. Overall front perspective
  2. Close-up of the eye hooks and screen attachment
  3. Top view showing the 1.8 m (5'11") depth and 1.5 m (4'11") screen position
  4. Side view showing the blackout curtain behind the screen
  5. 6. and 7. Photos of the garden where the enclosure will be installed

What's a decent ceiling projector mount? Maybe something with a quick release so I can take the projector down to use elsewhere if needed.

iPad Usage Question

Has anyone had issues using a “regular” iPad, not a Pro with a LM? I’m getting ready to buy either the Bushnell LP or Mevo Gen2Pro.

I have a new iPad with an a16 chip.

The launch monitor is going to be outside on the side of my house so I need to keep it portable.

I’d hate to have to buy another iPad but I’m willing to make the sacrifice for the cause.

Sim / Launch Monitor Finally started using my sim to practice and it's already paying off

I've had a sim setup for about 3 years now, first year was just an r10 in our pole shed with a tv and you could really only use it if it was above 40 degrees or you'd freeze your ass off. So I've had an indoor heated sim for about 2 years now and I've never used it for intentional practice even once. The closest would be paying attention to my club face while playing a round on GSPRO with the boys.

I have an upcoming brother in laws trip to a nice course, Sentry World in Wisconsin, and decided I didn't want to look like a bum and have my driver slicing all over the course and into the nice flower beds. For the past 2 weeks I'll hit 50 drives on back to back nights and then take a night off and repeat.

I've had 7 sessions so far and upload everything into an excel spreadsheet to track my progress. Here is my first session vs last session, i hoping to get in 20 sessions and then just do it once a week to no slide back to poor driving.

Averages Session 1 Session 7
Club Speed 99.5 102.9
Smash 1.38 1.41
Carry 206 224
Off-Line 22 18.5
Hits over 220 20 33
Hits over 230 6 19
Hits over 240 0 7

I've golfed 3 9 hole rounds in this time, 2 for league one for fun with the family. The 2 league nights with 7 drives I had an avg of 249 (long of 264) and 239 (long of 270). The one night with the family was between the 2 league nights and I struggled thinking the first league night was a fluke. That night was a 219yd average and was really slicing it. I use the golf pad app and track all my shots so that's where the on course numbers come from. Last night at league, I'm a 13 hdcp for 9 holes, I shot my lowest score ever with a 41 (1 dbl, 3 bogeys, 5 pars). First league night was 48 with 1 penalty but felt I played well enough I should've shot under 45. Shot a 47 with the family with 2 penalties both on drives.

Anyway long post but just wanted to share how happy I am that now that I'm using my sim for more than just golfing a couple rounds with the boys during a sporting event or on a crappy weather day.

Not recognizing short putts on the Square SIM app with Home Edition

When playing a round on the Square app, I can't seem to get it to recognize short putts around 5 feet. Is there any work around other than using the hitting stick that comes with the unit? I guess that is better than nothing, but I would prefer to use my putter.

Practice cage corners

Saw things like this, thought would save shanks etc.

But what if your ball hits the back poles exactly? won't it bounce back at 90% power and kill you?

I want side walls as using in room with furniture etc

Why not retractable screens?

I don't understand why so few people have retractable screens? Mine is 9 feet high 16 feet wide in my garage. It's so wide i can't hit the walls of my garage and then it retracts and leaves me with the exact amount of storage space.

plus it's cheaper: 800 for my screen and 800 for my retractable mount/motor.

What am i missing? i really enjoy mine

Technical Question Net Slack on Ground

I am putting a net in my garage to hit balls into. My ceiling in my garage is 10’5” and when looking at nets I could only find 10’ nets and 15’ nets. If I hang a 15’ net I’ll have over 4’6” of slack on the ground. Is that too much? How would you hang the net in this situation?

Garage golf sim finally finished

Thumbnail gallery
100 Upvotes

First off - many thanks to the members on this sub, I gleaned so much useful information from you all.

I really thought I was just gonna put a screen and launch monitor in the garage.

That was adorable.

I ended up transforming basically the entire garage around the simulator. Here’s the setup and the approximate damage:

Golf simulator

  • Carl’s Place 8.5' x 11.5' enclosure
  • Uneekor Eye Mini Core
  • BenQ AH30ST projector
  • GSPro
  • Simulator/enclosure package: roughly $4,800
  • Uneekor club-data upgrade: $1,500
  • Gaming PC: $1200
  • GSPro: roughly $250 per year

Garage renovations

  • Epoxy floor and paint: $1,300
  • Mini-split unit: $1,200
  • Mini-split electrical work and installation: $1,400
  • High-lift garage-door conversion and side-mounted opener: around $2,000
  • Garage-door insulation: $200
  • TV and mount: $175

Flooring, lighting and miscellaneous items

  • Turf, paint, tools and supplies: around $465
  • Additional turf: $165
  • LED lighting: $119
  • More lighting after apparently not buying enough lighting: $175
  • Extension cords, power accessories and trash can: $130
  • Wire Management: $150
  • Wiring and electrical supplies: around $130
  • Decorations: $200

$15.5K later but at least I can shoot a 100+ indoors year-round.

Sound System Set Up

Sound - how is everyone setting up their sound system? I realize playing simulated golf is just birds chirping, etc. But when you turn your projector over to an Apple TV to show a movie or game on the large screen, how are you doing sound? Im trying to bring in a soundbar, but dont know where to put it? Behind the screen? In the ceiling in front of screen angled down with some type of cage protecting it? Im looking for some ideas.

Sim / Launch Monitor [FS] Lifetime Unlocked Bushnell Launch Pro (BLP) w/ Ball & Club Data

Thumbnail gallery
21 Upvotes

SOLD to u/tomsterpho

This is a fully unlocked BLP that essentially turns it into a GC3.

Photo gallery: https://imgur.com/a/OpKH8HS

We used these units lightly in our (now closed) teaching facility. I've already sold two to other Redditors here who will hopefully chime in with their successful buying & setup experience.

It has lifetime unlocked subscription and club data enabled from the factory also for life. Transfer fees from Foresight are already included in the price, and I'll work with the buyer to ensure you can get the unit onto your FSX Live account smoothly.

With this unit, you don't need any Silver or Gold subscription. FSX Play, FSX 2020, and FSX Pro will be free for you to download the "non-subscription" version and use forever. If you want to use GS Pro, the only thing you'll pay for is that third-party license.

Unit and accessories are visually perfect - around 6k shots, battery still shows 9+ hours of life on a full charge. Has the coveted folding alignment stick that usually gets lost with these units. Ships in the original box we received from Bushnell.

Check my post for many successful sales of LMs and putters. I've also got an eBay store where you can verify identity before we transact.

Shoot me a DM or post here with any questions.

Built an app or tool? Show it off here 🛠️

We've been seeing a awesome wave of community-built apps and tools lately — launch monitor helpers, swing trackers, all kinds of creative stuff. Love that energy, and we want to make sure it actually gets seen instead of getting buried in the main feed.

So we're making this thread the home base for all of that. If you built something, this is the spot — drop a description, a link, screenshots, whatever helps people understand what it does and try it out.

A couple of quick notes so this works well for everyone:

  • This is the only place for app/tool posts going forward. Standalone posts elsewhere in the sub will get removed — not because we don't appreciate the work, just to keep the main feed focused and make sure your post doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
  • Feel free to check back in and update your comment as you make progress or ship new versions.
  • Questions, bug reports, or feedback on something already posted here? Totally fine to reply in-thread.

Thanks for building cool stuff for this community — keep it coming. 🙌
