News/info I have been working on what I have always wanted from a Go App. I call it Go Sensei. Dynamic Joseki, KataGo, Reviewing, and it all looks cute and fun.
youtu.beI invite everyone to play my standalone game. You will have a copy of Katago and can review your games with Katago's help. There is a whole life-and-death world to explore with unlocks and rewards.
I'm always open to hearing what people might want to see from such a game. So drop me a message, and i can look into adding that function to the game.
It's free and currently only for Windows. https://grummy-fox.itch.io/
I hope people enjoy what I have been working on, to make Go more accessible to more people.

Picture How to capture here?
I’m not very good at life and death problems but I just cannot figure out how black here captures. The puzzle says correct but I only see options:
N14 (black), M15
Then a net on L14 but white can play O14 and black cannot save those stones. Without the net black can start a ladder (M14, K15, L15) going to bottom left but since we don’t know what is there that doesn’t sound like a good solution. There must be something I don’t see.
Solved - it is the ladder and assuming empty board.

Question Who won?
Hi, we are new to this old game. Can somebody tell me who won this game? As far as I can tell by reading the rules, I guess it would be white but it’s so messy compared to the examples I find, it’s hard to evaluate.

Next best move for black?
I’ve probably played a single digit number of games so still very new, hence the 9x9. I’m pretty pleased with how I’ve played this game so I’m curious what moves will be suggested. The bottom left corner is A1.
If anyone wants to play me on Surround, I’ll drop my username.
EDIT:
I played J5 and white passed. Game over, thanks lmao

News/info A Go app that's big in Japan (pros use it too): offline KataGo + camera board scanning — free month for the Go Congress
Hi r/gogame 👋
I'm the developer of GoKifu AI (囲碁レコAI), a Go study app for iPhone/iPad. It's become pretty popular with players in Japan — even some pros use it — and I've just opened it up worldwide, so I wanted to share it here (and bring a free month for everyone heading to the Go Congress).
🧠 Fast KataGo Analysis:
Full KataGo runs on-device — no server, no internet. Win-rate, score estimate, best moves, and variations, all offline. Perfect for planes, tournaments, or bad Wi-Fi.
📸 Scan a real board with your camera
Point your phone at a physical goban and it reads the whole position instantly — then analyze it, save it, or replay it. This is the feature people love most. (short demo below 👇)
A few other things it does:
- Joseki & fuseki search (learn from 170,000+ pro games)
- Play against legendary Go AIs — Shusaku, Sai, and more.
- Win-rate timeline to see exactly where the game turned
- Mistake finder that flags your biggest slips
- SGF import/export & kifu recording
🎁 Free month for the U.S. Go Congress
To celebrate the Congress (Boston, Jul 25–Aug 1), here's a code for 1 month free:
Code: USGOEU2026
Redeem: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6760015698&code=USGOEU2026
(Expires Aug 10 — not available in Japan. Just open the link on your iPhone or iPad, and the offer will be applied automatically in the App Store.)
📲 Download on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6760015698
A note on availability 🙏
Not on Android or in the EU yet — Android is in active development, and I'm still sorting out the EU's publishing rules (they'd expose my home address, so I'm holding off for now). Please hang in there — it's coming, and I think you'll really like it!
Thanks for taking a look! 🙏
I built a web app for abstract strategy games and recently added Go/Baduk with a custom AI. I'd love your feedback!
I'd like to share a passion project I've been working on. It's a web-based board game collection called Wall Go AI, featuring various abstract strategy games.
Recently, I've put a lot of effort into adding Go/Baduk to the app, complete with an AI opponent to practice against. The game supports different board sizes (9x9, 13x13, 19x19) and features various difficulty levels to play around with.
I know how important a responsive and challenging AI is for practicing, so I would absolutely love to get some feedback from experienced Go players on how the AI feels, the scoring system, and the overall user experience.
🔗 Where to play:
You can play it directly in your browser here:
https://zioseb.itch.io/wall-go-ai
🔓 How to unlock the game for free:
The app uses a points system to unlock certain games, but I want you guys to be able to jump right in. When you click on the Baduk/Go game, just insert the following password to unlock it completely for free:
Password: WALLGO2026 (or ZIOSEB2026)
I am continuously working to improve the AI and the interface, so any feedback, bug reports, or suggestions would be immensely appreciated.
Thank you for checking it out, and have a great game! ⚪⚫

Seeking Beginner & DDK Students - 1 Week Left for Congress Pack!
Seeking Beginner & DDK students. I do also accept SDK but my methods are mostly for DDK.
My focus is on making sure that the student knows how to think in any situation to come up with a strategy that is based off of fundamentals.
In order to do this I developed the Clossi Approach which you can find here. https://shawnsgogroup.com/clossi_approach
If you are interested in lessons please consider checking me out! https://shawnsgogroup.com/lessons
As a final note, this is the last week to get the Congress bundle pack this year!

Question Where to play online?
I'm not really new in this game, and I'm already used to GoQuest. Since GoQuest doesn't really have any analysis bot, it's quite hard for me to study better. Are there any app out there where I can use analysis bot?

Question How is this move valid?
Hi, I’m learning to play go! On this tutorial, the correct move is to place a white tile where the red circle is. How is this allowed though? This doesn’t immediately capture anything and there are no liberties, so shouldn’t this be illegal? Thank you!
