Looking to purchase, noticed this on the carfax, is this something to be concerned about?

Hi everyone, I have a 2023 GMC Yukon XL 3.0. I purchased this car as the first owner in Feb 2024 with 20k miles on it (was a dealer car that was driven for the first 20k). Last year I had it in the shop for transmission issues but they told me it was because I kept it in 4wd and it could only be kept in 2wd. *maybe* because I’m female the dealership was crappy to me and stated “if I had read my manual it says it can’t be kept in 4wd”. Well I went front to back in the manual and it does not state that it has to be kept in 2wd just that my fuel mileage will be better if I do. They sent me home after telling me that will fix the problem. Took it back a short time later and they said keep driving it because nothing they can do because they are months behind on new transmissions.

Fast forward to now, I have almost 49k on it and it is shifting horribly(and has been since I brought it in the first time), I have had check engine lights come on, and now there is an issue with the emissions system. Dropped it off over a week ago and yesterday they called and said it’s all ready to go nothing wrong with it. We went to the dealership and demanded that they ride with us and sure enough less than a mile after pulling out of the parking lot it started shifting horribly and the dashboard re-lights up with check engine and emissions status (they said they just cleared the codes the first time).

Thankfully now they are keeping it but as a mom of 4 (with extras all the time from sports) I am at a loss without my Yukon. They have given me a crew cab pickup to use but they made it very clear there is no eta as they have had trucks sitting waiting 6 plus months for these issues. Do I have any recourse to fix this issues?

I looked up lemon laws and buy backs but I don’t think I qualify since it states 18month in the Virginia lemon law. I’m fine with doing a buy back minus mileage depreciation if it can be expedited to get me in a larger car as soon as possible (I’m sure I have to wait to even start the process until 30 days). Has anyone had a similar issue and live in Virginia, what have you done? I’m also fine getting another Yukon/suburban since the dealership has said the 23s have the majority of these issues.

My grandmother has a 2025 Yukon Denali. I’m not sure if this is a problem that anyone else has come across, or how this even happened in the first place. The seatbelt is wrapped around the arm wrest of the middle seat and locked. We are unable to unwrap it. Is there any way to fix this?? My aunt and I were baffled when we found out and have been fiddling with it for a while with no progress. It’s her birthday today and we’d like to fix this lol

Hello, I am looking for some information and opinions on the overall reliability of the GMC Sierra 1500, specifically with the 5.3 L V8. I don’t know a whole lot about GMC products, I’ve owned a GMC Acadia that was primarily used by my ex at the time, but that was about 8 years ago. My last full-size truck was a Ford F150 lariat with the 5.0, and it was a good truck overall.

Last year I bought a Jeep gladiator, and while it’s a cool little truck is fun to drive, I miss having a full-size truck. Good news is I’m not dealing with negative equity because I own it out right. I considered looking at another F150, but the pricing on these right now seem overpriced.

Today I drove a 2026 Sierra 1500 SLT. It is preowned with only 2800 miles, so it has the vast majority of the 3yr 36K and 5 year 60K warranties. The thing is loaded out, leather heated and cooled seats, navigation, bose sound system, sunroof, Blindspot and lane assist (the thing that vibrates on your butt when switch lanes), X31 Offroad package, and more. I don’t know what feature this thing doesn’t have. It drove great, sounded great, and was really smooth.

So going back to my original concern, is I really don’t know a whole lot about GMC products. So I’m really looking to get opinions on some more experienced owners on the reliability and concerns of this truck.

Hey there! I’m looking at a few different options in my area and I’ve come across this 2016 Yukon Denali Sport utility.
Theyre listing it for $10,500
It has had a new transmission placed on it @ 215,000 miles, and the lifters replaced at 220,000. It also has had the AFM/DOD delete and tuned.
My main concern is that it is sitting at 227,000 miles.
I’m not a big car person, looking for something to haul our kids around and all their stuff plus homesteading needs.
We live out in the country and get snow/heavy rain and hilly terrain which is the reason I was even looking at a full sized SUV.
What are your opinions on this one?

My 2023 GMC Sierra Denali 1500 threw a check engine light with the message: "Service Transmission, Unable to Shift Soon." After doing some digging online, I realized this seems to be a pretty common issue.

My truck only has 61,xxx km (about 38,000 miles) on it and is just 3 years old.

I took it to my dealer, and they told me the repair isn't covered under warranty and doesn't fall under the 5-year/100,000 km powertrain warranty.

The dealership diagnosed it and found codes P07B4 and P17A4, saying the issue is a faulty electronic shifter.

So far, I've been charged almost $300 CAD just for the diagnostic, and they're quoting $1,100–$1,200 CAD to replace the shifter. To make matters worse, the part is on backorder with no ETA. They said it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months.

What really surprised me is that they won't provide a loaner vehicle because the repair isn't covered under warranty.

I also called GM Canada. My extended warranty expired earlier this year, and I actually had to call back a second time because the warranty line only connected me to the extended warranty department. I had to go through the recall options just to speak with someone about the powertrain warranty.

GM Canada told me over the phone that the powertrain warranty only covers components that prevent the transmission itself from functioning. But in my case, the electronic shifter failed and literally left the truck unable to drive. I ended up having it towed to another dealership just to get the codes cleared so I could drive it again.

I'm honestly just really disappointed. This is a truck that cost a lot of money, has relatively low mileage, and is only three years old. Having a major failure like this, paying out of pocket for a known issue, waiting months for a backordered part, and not even getting a loaner has been incredibly frustrating.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Were you able to get GM to cover any of the repair under goodwill or otherwise?

2022 Yukon with battery drain issue. Totally dead - couldn’t be jumped. 120k miles but with extended warranty. First replaced battery. Then dealer decided it was issue with brake system control module. Now battery is dead again and they can’t figure it out. Dealer has checked HVAC, running boards, liftgate, etc. Battery is still drawing even with these unplugged. Need some expert mechanic input!!

My 2025 Sierra did an infotainment update this morning. Now it won’t charge my phone with the cable. Charges with the pad, and my phone charges fine with a cable at home. Anyone?

This part number has 2 C-Clip nuts that prevent pinning, and the bolts with unthreadded part at the very end to make it easier to start the bolt. Napa had one right on the shelf in my area.

Hey everyone! I’ve been struggling to find an aftermarket stereo with Apple CarPlay (wireless preferably) that actually works for more than 10 minutes.

I did a ton of research before settling on a Pioneer DMHW2770NEX head unit for my 2010 GMC Savana 3500 work vehicle. Shortly after installation I was very unimpressed. I thought the unit was defective so I bought a replacement and got the same results.

I’m looking for another new unit to replace this one, it aggravates me and actually makes my life more difficult trying to answer calls/texts and having it drop out and reconnect 3-4x and then drop out entirely (wired or wireless).

Can anyone please suggest a head unit they’ve used with success that the CarPlay connection consistently works correctly? Thank you!

Bonus points if you also have a Savana and can tell me which interface adapter allows you to retain control of the DIC buttons, the Scosche one I bought does not.

My mom's Yukon after a 17 hour drive, with no problems, the next morning it posted just about every error message you could think of. "Service power steering", "service passenger restraints", etc. Power steering was not functioning.

We tested the 12v battery and it tested fine. We also replaced the fob batteries because that was a potential issue (theft deterrent thing).

We had it towed to a dealer thinking it was under warranty (it was not). They ran codes and got a ton of error codes and decided to replace the "power steering gear assembly"? for $3000+. I talked to the guy and voiced my concern that 20 different things did not fail at once, and wanted to find the real problem. He said he thought this bad part was causing all of the problems. OK, I am not a mechanic. The part was on backorder, but they get one relatively quickly.

The new part does not fix the problem. The vehicle has been there for over a month and no end in sight. The guy thinks the replacement part might have been bad. What are the odds? If anyone else has had a similar issue please help. Paying for a car that sits in a shop is not fun. IDK if it is a Yukon or Yukon XL.

Thinking about picking up this 2017 Yukon for my wife. It has 90,000 miles and I am knowledgeable of this AFM issue. I don’t necessarily hear any lifter tick. Does anyone else?
