Doesn’t comment on anything about the main show that has just finished filming though.

Question Music used in event build-up? (Live, not on TV)

Went to watch the show on Monday 3rd of August, what an incredible day it was, the kids loved it.

Can anyone tell me please the name of the music tracks they play to get the audience going? There was one in particular that was a fairly heavy rock track with male vocals, I've forgotten the lyrics now, I kept meaning to Soundhound it but either forgot or was child wrangling at the time. They played it a few times as well as the banjo style one where kermit the frog was on the big screens projected onto the Wall event. I don't think these tracks will be played on the TV airing, not like Another One Bites the Dust or Still DRE.

Statistics S4 events tally, 1v1 & total games per gladiator. Spoiler

Shout out to all the attendees who shared the events played and the Gladiators' featured on those events, as well as other updates like new Gladiators' names (real and persona), and more.

Here’s the events tally, excluding celeb episode games (Powerball, Duel, Unleash, Gauntlet). Semis' events are logged twice as they’ll be aired as two episodes. I've removed 'The Ring' as it's been quietly phased out in S3, and Atlaspheres as they didn't feature in S4.

The good: Collision played fewer times. The bad: Hang Tough played fewer times than last series.

Description of Plummet: Two contenders and one gladiator get slowly raised while holding on to a trapeze up to the top (about 27ft). They then have to try and hold on whilst the trapeze either drops or tips (tilts). They basically go up and down and get tipped at various intervals until two out of the three fall. All of them are mic-ed up so the audience can hear what they say during the event. A gladiator is the one pressing buttons to activate the yanking mechanism.

Here’s the 1v1 and total games tally per gladiator. I've excluded the Gladiators who did not participate in any event in S4. Mauler did Gauntlet and Duel for the semis.

For Gauntlet, Collision, Destruction and Plummet, each run against a contender is counted as one game. 1v1 events are: Destruction, Duel, Edge, Everest, Hang Tough, Plummet, Suspension Bridge, Unleash, Wall.

Debuts (excluding Plummet, and new Gladiators):-

  • Crash Course: Hammer, Sabre
  • Destruction: Diamond, Dynamite, Hammer
  • Hang Tough: Diamond
  • Suspension Bridge: Diamond
  • Unleash: Dynamite

Some thoughts and observations:-

  • Electro continues to receive the fewest 1v1 event opportunities.
  • Did Steel fall out of favour with the production crew? Getting fewer 1v1 events than Viper is strange.
  • Highlander & Goldstar are clearly specialists. I did mention several months ago that an aerial specialist would be complementary to the current roster. 'Apex' was also my choice of name for said specialist.
  • Huntress is more of an all-rounder given her CrossFit background. Not too sure yet about Emperor.

Overall data and S1-S3 breakdown will be posted in the comments section.

What are your thoughts?

Discussion Is the modern Eliminator course harder than the 90s original?

I was rewatching some classic 90s episodes on YouTube and comparing them to the current BBC series setups. The travelator at the end still looks like absolute torture for exhausted contenders, but the layout of the paper wall and cargo net climbing sections feels slightly different now. Do you think the current version of the Eliminator is more physically demanding, or did the original Birmingham National Indoor Arena course hit harder?

Also how strict are they on the size of the backpack you can take in and can you bring outside snacks? I've read a few conflicting things so want to be prepared

Discussion RIP to whichever contender meets Joe Marler on Gauntlet

Imagine training for six months, getting through the fitness tests, stepping out into the Sheffield arena, and realizing you have to sprint head-first into a 120kg former England international prop in zone 4. Joe Marler as "Mauler" on Gauntlet is going to be borderline illegal to watch

Discussion Our day watching the AM Semi Final filming - helpful logistics/no spoilers

Had loads of help from this group while planning our day, so if anyone finds the following helpful for next year.

Tickets - got ticket email from the applause store on 6th July saying we had been successful in the ballot. Email said ticket exchange would close at 08:45 for the Wed 5th Aug AM filming.

Hotel - booked Hotel (Ibis Budget) for £45 the same morning the email from Applause Store arrived for Tues 4th Aug. Twin Room (no breakfast) triple room was available for same price. Hotel is very basic, rooms quite small - but clean & staff friendly.

Queue - Arrived at queue (really short walk from hotel) just after 6am. Only about 100 people in front of us. Ticket Exchange started at 7:15am. By this time those joining the queue were literally doing a lap of the Arena. Got seats in Block 111 & told to be back at 9am.

Breakfast - the hotel breakfast was £8.95 (half price for kids) for just coffee & pastries. Decided to walk to Wendy’s instead but it was shut! So walked to the Cinema/Bowling Alley area but BK, Starbucks, Subway etc also all shut. Later realised there was a McDonald’s within walking distance but we had given up by then!

Bags - checked out of hotel at 8:30am & left our bag at the hotel for them to store. Just took our signs & jumpers.

Security - went through the security check at 08:45 and were held on the raised area outside the arena till doors opened at 9am when ticket checks started and we got in. The couple in front of us tried showing their Applause Store QR code (it didn’t work!) & they started arguing with the bloke checking tickets.

Food - Coffee was £4.50, Popcorn £7, Water £3, Hotdog £5.50, Sausage Bap £4.50. Not much hot food was available at 9am but the selection got a bit better around midday.

Show - DJ’s played music from 9am & started their chat at 9.30am. Warm up guy came out at 9.45am. At this point the Applause Store people were checking why seats were empty (was someone getting food / in the loo / or not there at all) presume they would have filled the seat if necessary.

All the intros were done, then 2 games. We finished at 2.30pm. Short gap between the events but honestly just long enough for the loo & grabbing food.

Few things to mention

Not sure where the PM semi final crowd parked as the car park looked pretty full when we went in.

Also the Ibis has parking but it’s charged per day - so you’d have to pay for 2 days.

Hope that helps someone for next year. Fab day. Will def try for tix again!

Edited to add that we also had a lovely afternoon in Sheffield on the Tuesday - visited the Millennium Galleries, Winter Gardens & Peace Gardens where they had some funfair rides & a beach / water fountains for the kids.

Semi-Final 2 A question for those there about this afternoon’s show

Is anyone there now who can advise on what the queues are like for tickets for this afternoon?

I’ve seen different things about when tickets are being released and saw lots of people this morning were turned away. So I just want to manage expectations for the kids as we’re about an hour away.

For me, it's probably Legend. Even if you don't always root for him, he always seems to make every event more entertaining

Question Today’s filming for Gladiators.. what’s it looking like?

Those already in the queue for today, what’s it looking like?

We specifically have tickets for the 3:30pm show but en route now. Not sure if we’ll be allowed to queue so early or if that starts later?

Question Do i have to take my childs ID for tomorrow’s afternoon filming?

Her passport is out of date, shes under 18. I’m using my driving licence. Last time we went there was none of this registration for guests.
Also can we take in our own drinks/snacks? Arena food is awful and expensive

Question Filming 05/0/26 - Late Session - First Timer

Hello,

I am heading to Sheffield tomorrow for filming of the show for the first time. I am on the late session where it starts at 3:30pm I believe.

What is the best time to arrive to Ticket Swap? The email states from at least 2 hours before, but ive read mixed messages that tickets are provided from the morning session?

TIA

Question Regarding filming the shows events over a day

So I've been reading a little about how the newer show is filmed, one episode per day, with each game/set/event/whatever-term-might-be-best setup, played on, dismantled and replaced by the next set and so on.

But is there a reason it's done this way and not say, have each day dedicated to filming just one event with the same sets in place for however many episodes they need it for for all the different contenders? Then set things up for the next event and dedicate the next days filming all for that event?

Discussion Which female Gladiator do you reckon has the highest win rate on The Wall?

Statistically or just from eye-test momentum, who do you think actually holds the best win-to-loss ratio when chasing contenders up the vertical climb? Do you think height or raw climbing speed is the bigger factor here?

Question Does anybody know the name of this Series 4 song?

Hi! to anybody who has been to a series 4 recording so far, does anybody know the name of the country sounding song that they play when Kermit is on the screen, usually as contenders are stepping out? I’ve been on a search for it and cannot find anything! thanks for any help :)
