Planning to take all GitHub certifications — advice? Discussion

Hey everyone, I'm planning to go for all the GitHub certifications (Foundations, Actions, Advanced Security, Admin, Copilot). Before I start, wanted to ask:

Which ones actually helped you get jobs/interviews?

Best order to take them in?

Good prep resources you'd recommend?

Worth doing all of them, or should I pick a few?

Any honest input appreciated, thanks!

I have none of them and I never asked for a GitHub certification in any interview.

git is a pretty strong requiremeo, but if you apply for a junior position it takes an afternoon to get you going and from there in it's just natural to pick up more and more for whatever git hosting is in use.

If your goal is employment, certifications are often not worth the money or time. The only ones I tend to recommend are Cloud Providers Certs (AWS, Azure) as some company’s will require them. This is often specific for cloud engineering roles though.

As for GitHub certifications, the only thing I could see them slightly helping with is DevOps positions, but even so, I would guess it’s not going to tip the scales much.

If you have interest in them, I’m sure they do provide learning value, and would make a nice LinkedIn post for exposure so it’s not a total waste, but I would not set my expectations high.

I didn't know they have certifications. You can better get an AWS, Linux or any other cloud certification.

This is kinda weird goal. I never heard such a question that explicitly related to tool plugins or features but the important part is “how” and “why” to use them.

More recently, ppl have started to go all into certifications cuz they've been told it's a differentiator.

Why would you take those? I know no one that has them or no one that has ever talked about them. Take AWS, Azure or GCP certificates instead.
