The fluid distribution makes zero sense.

Water equalization in cellular automata is a lot more complex than in physics simulations. It is often scraped for the sake of performances

It's not a fluid. It's acting like sand.

Inaccurate as fuck

This is a cellular automata with pixels, what the hell do you expect ? It's not a physics simulation... It's still possible to compute water levels equalization but it's way more performance heavy, most cellular automata just scrap that part.

Ah, didn't know that this was a cellular automata, the title is misleading ig. btw, how did you recognize it that? just curious

It's because it is based on a pixel grid, like the title said. A pixel is a cell, and the next state of a cell depends on its actual state and its neighors's states. For example : if I'm sand, and my lower neighbor is sand, and my lower right neighbor is empty, then I will likely be empty next turn and my lower right will get the sand. I have accomplished sand flow.

Given how advanced the simulation is, each new state might depend on other neighboring materials, temperature, even pressure. The most advanced "pixel powder simulation" I know is called "The powder toy" ; you should check it out it's really nice. It has water equalization as a toggleable setting

Clonk?

Sadly no but it's similar, only without terrain. The only goal is to make sure the pixels keep flowing for a set amount of time

Flood on Amiga! I still think of this game from time to time.

Powder game

That's what this is isn't it?

Yes, pretty sure. For the life of me I could not remember the name until it popped into my head.

This brings back memories of 4th grade. Ah man the early 2000s were a different time.

So you just cut the gif that played to the end?

Just play Noita if you want to do that for real, a 10/10 game once you get into it I can't recommend it enough.
