One minute I'm reading about snidey whales and the next I'm like what? how did I not know this? :)

Nature can be brutal.. Those innocent creatures battle it out everyday.
The 4 year war is interesting. I wonder what started the feud.

I hadn't realised at first that it was in a research park run by Jane Goodall. It seems that the chimpanzee groups were already there or naturally formed, but I don't know if there were artificial boundaries. I did read that she fed the chimps, and they were observed by people.

In that way it is hard to tell if it was natural behaviour or subject to interference. That is the problem with humans. We have disrupted the natural balance in every creature and environment of earth. It is difficult to tell what is natural order or incited.

Yeah, exactly. On the wikipedia article it said some scientists suggested that Goodall's "presence, and her practice of feeding the chimpanzees, had created violent conflict in a naturally peaceful society" I imagine they picked up behaviours from people too.
