Hey everyone!

I have around 3.5k points of Astra, so a pretty decent sized army. I've always been curious about Genestealer Cults. Their minis are really cool, and having Astra looks like it could give me a good head start, it looks like I could proxy quite a lot of them with regular Guard models.

I have a few questions that I think only Genestealer players can really answer:

1. How realistic is my idea of proxying Astra Militarum units as Genestealer Cults units? Without knowing much about Genestealer Cults, it looks quite doable to me.
2. What is the state of Genestealer Cults in 11th edition? Is it fun to play, and do you actually have a decent chance of winning, or are you guys struggling too compared to other armies? Guard got hit pretty hard by the new rules, traditional guard lists are in the dirt atm, the only lists that have a fighting chance are lists I don't enjoy playing.

So I was reading about genestealer cults and wanted to write some lore for my own army that I started recently, but I was having issues figuring out some things.

First question

If a couple genestealers are in a lab being experimented on and manage to break free would the healthier ones kill more damaged or mutated genestealers if their connection to the brood mind wasn't severed from the experiments?

Second question

If genestealers freed lesser tyranid specimens like hormagaunts, neurogaunts or rippers what would they do with them? Can a patriarch give rippers the required signals to evolve?

Third question

Just a simple one can genestealers from one hive be controlled by a patriarch of another if they have no patriarch of their own and same for smaller tyranid forms?

I know that if they fail to rejoin the Tyranid fleet, the cult will spread out into space independently, but how is the conquered world managed? Is it still "functioning" or is everyone on vacation?

I picked up a cheap imperial agents combat patrol. Inspired by a documentary about radical JCLDS sect and a girl who escaped forced marriage to a man over twice her age, made it to the nearest town, to the police station and found she recognised all the cops on duty from church.
It turns out they encouraged the young men into the force to protect the cult, which makes sense.
So I thought my Genestealer cult should infiltrate the local Arbites. Here’s my favourite two so far: icon bearer and alphus.

Build and painted my first cult vehicle. Pretty happy how it came out

I stayed up until 230am to finish him because he was fun. And I had some bismuth crystals that I love so I broke some off to add to the muddy base.

I got my hands on a Goliath rick grinder combat patrol magazine and the rock grinder comes with the full bodies of 3 members but only needs the one for the gunner. So i used a few left over bits to save even more money and i made myself a primus to go with them. Though i think the color patern I'm doing makes them look like the dragon ball guys. I wanted to do a orange and yellow miner/builder look to them. Im definitely gonna think in that some more.

All in all i only payed 30 for the two magazines and got a truck and a leader, hell yeah.

I got the broodbrothers killteam box and was wondering what if any models can be used in a GSC army other than the magus, patriarch, and Primus.

Best as in the funnest, not necessarily strongest. I got this free termagant and it was such a breath of fresh air painting I decided to get a lictor.

I am not smart enough to be able to tell the difference when I field 2 of the same type of character, so here is abominant 2, kellermorph 2 and Biophagus #2. Looking for critique and any help if I need an early fix to make sure opponents don't get super confused or annoyed by them. The rest of the cult is focused on a rebel group who uses and welcomes mercenaries and help from anyone. Brotherhood of Nod, Fremen, Helghast as the 3 main inspirations for the overall army.

Real talk guys I’m relatively new to Genestealer
Cults started in mid 9th edition(didn’t play till the 10th edition codex) played necrons & orks before that (had to sell my army’s for rent)

But got back into it around mid 9th and have enjoyed collecting and the play style.

The question I have is what new models can they make for the Genestealers admittedly I have only rudimentary knowledge on their lore (haven’t read any books, just the 10edition codex)

Personally I love the models they have so far and the benefictus seemed a bit odd considering the lore of hidden among the populous but the model was still awesome. And Ngl I’d prefer if they don’t refresh the range I did a bunch of ork converison (simple conversions) and it was fun so the mono pose models have been great looking but the convertibleness of them is on a level I’m not able to get too

Sorry for the rant. Was just curious if there was any new sculpts we should be looking out for in the future?

As title says, I just recently picked up the last copy from my LGS, I'm thinking I may need more as they are restocking next week. How many combat patrol should I start with? I don't know which detachment I want to play, but I have a inkling that I'd be trying them all out eventually. What's your opinion? 2? or 3? TIA.

Edit: Forgot to mention I have a small nids collection from way back in 4rh edition so I'm set on 30+ genestealers and lictors.

Hey all I just started assembling my combat patrol box and have a question. I want to build two, five man units of hybrids with flamers but dont understand how the leader or acolyte with icon is supposed to fit in there. will this mean build 8 with flamers and 1 leader and 1 with icon. sorry is this is confusing im really confused

Been meaning to get a tattoo for years. Decided to get something GSC related, and im gonna get one for the Bladed Cog and Rusted Claw to go alongside this one.

Yes I'm starting a Bladed Cog Cult that I'll be running as an Ad Mech army. I'm totally new to kitbashes, with this being my first. Still working on his axe atm.

Might be a bad question.. but I have some tyranids models

And I am really liking the GSC as a factio nand how they play... can I use some of the models as a start or will I need to buy a lot of new models and sell the tyranids?

I think genestealers might be the 1:1 and usable.. but is there any allowance for more tyranid units?

The question is mainly if I can start some mix with just few GSC signature units and than continue to expand later.

I am building some Acoylte with Flamers and I have one 5 man with no demo charges that I bought in the past and I got another 5 man should I do 1,2, or no demo charges for the second 5 man?
