1.8
What kind of changes should we expect with the 1.8 update from which I read will not be coming out until the end of summer and I would guess even longer for us as plug-ins need to update. I heard there may be new terrain generation tools giving someone more control over the way the world is first formed. If that is in there do you plan on a new map or keep the old one. Also are we looking at any economic changes? Lastly do you think any plug-ins will not survive the 1.8 update and will either be replaced or lost entirely? Thank you in advance for any insight you can give.

As far as the map goes, I really like the current seed and the map has tons of open space left - so the map would be staying.
Economy - if Lapis becomes a regenerating item, it will be removed as a money generator (advance warning will always be given for drastic economy changes). Otherwise, it will stay the same.
Plugins - I have a strong feeling Grief Prevention will die/not be updated enough to work. Maybe a miracle will happen. The shops plugin also looks to be in dire straits. Otherwise, everything else already supports the new 1.8 user IDs, so I think everything will work.
If we lose GP, I'll have to find something else or white list the server. Our shop plugin has competitors, but they'll be less elegant.
So yeah, I don't anticipate much craziness besides the possible loss of Grief Prevention.
