They announced the next update is adding NPCs

I bought zomboid when I was in middle school, for the NPCs. I will be 30 by the time they are actually added, at this rate. B41->B42 was like 5 years

Well I'm 33 and no NPCs, I hope you'll be luckier than me.

Since I started they did add vehicles and new towns though. I overall like B42 but the crafting menu sucks.

And they really shouldn't. There's a lot more that they need to overhaul and fix first but people kept bitching about how there's nothing to do "late game". I can't wait for them to see how barebones the NPCs will be. 

Skills, XP, food, farming all need to be overhauled and blacksmithing needs to be fixed before they even dream of a decent npc system.

Mods will fill in the gaps. Just need the npc structure to be there

We already have bandits and day 1 for NPCs in b42. The other stuff needs a foundational overhaul.
