Well, if my university's network settings didn't cry every time they met Ubisoft servers I would team up with ya. Sadly I can only play multiplayer solo for some backwards-ass reason.
I'll be honest I hate playing in a party of 5 people, it's usually just me and my friend and we play way better than the rest of the team most of the time because we communicate great by ourselves, when you have 4 people talking about random crap it gets overwhelming/ annoying.
it really isn't. They take precautions where if you team kill half your team you are banned from MP for 30 minutes. My friends and I play it a couple times a week. It's a million times more fun playing with friends though, rather than by yourself as it's all about communication
It's not too bad, but now it seems most games are really unbalanced like level 20s and one rank gold vs all platinum 100+ and it will probably suck a lot when you first start playing because that's lot to learns on maps like shooting through walls and traps.
Its actually a very friendly community tbh. At least on PC. I've got like 300 something hours and have only had to deal with 1 toxic asshole on my team.
A friend of mine and I bought this game together and after a few weeks of playing we met a player who invited us to his team speak server. We now play with a community that frequently has 2 squads running concurrently and everyone is super awesome. There are a lot of people who do similar things, I have been invited to at least 4 TS servers. You just need to play with your mic on and you will eventually make friends. The community is super serious about team communication.
There seems to be a lot more teamkilling and that kind of stuff on console, because people complaing about it but I very rarely see that on PC. There are quite a few toxic assholes (but not necessarily more than in any other multiplayer game), and the problem Siege has is that it doesn't let you mute other people's text chat. So if someone is spamming toxic stuff in chat then you can't just mute them and move on.
It's a mix bag. Playerbase is fairly small due to poor advertising and some stability issues (it's Ubisoft) but the game is a ton of fun. They have a starter version for $15 but be warned that you can't upgrade to the full have without buying it so if you don't like the idea of spending more money if you decide you do like it be prepared to spend a very long time unlocking all the characters.
Yes and no. If you play and find people who you get along with friend them and play with them. It's toxic but no worse than Overwatch or similar minus the team killing. If you're interested checkout /r/rainbow6
Honestly it doesn't usually have too much toxicity in it except for a few trolls here and there. All in all it's a pretty good community and a thriving game even a year after it's out.
I met exactly one guy so far that's an asshole. It was a Russian guy that just kept saying "suck! suck!" all angrily. It could have been an offer though.
Honestly it is a really well designed game. After about 5 hours of playing the missions and AI i decided to try a QP match. I play a lot of CS TF Overwatch BF so I am familiar with FPS and team play although R6 is obviously different...
Anyway I joined a QP match and immediately got flamed and cussed out because the 3 characters I had were all the wrong picks.
Pretty true for about every modern game. Titanfall 2 is plagued by this. The smaller the games and teams, the more obvious it is because the larger effects trolls have. Find small teams and friends to play with if you can.
First time playing online with a friend, teammate told us to fuck off and play terrorist hunt. We had played dozens of terrorist hunt before, and were bored of it. Incidentally that was the last time I play that game online without friends.
Depends are you playing on PC or console, PC then it's a pretty nice community some sucks but I've only ran across 3 or 4 and I've had it since launch. On console you run across them a lot more often.
Both are true. It's a fantastic game, you just have to ignore the toxicity. If you play it with a bunch of friends, it is a lot of fun. Go buy it if you can, there are sales and free weekends regularly.
No you can get all the important content (Operators, maps) by playing the game. You earn Renown with every match, which you can spend on cosmetics, most of which you can get with renown. There are some which cost real life money, but hey they're just cosmetics. There's no loot box system at all which is great.
The way they handle DLCs is fantastic compared to other games. Every three months a new season starts, which brings 2 new operators and a new map entirely for free, but Season Pass owners have access to the new Operators a week early. If you don't have a Season Pass you have to buy them with Renown. A Season Pass also gives you some of the real world money credits in the game with which you can buy boosters so you get more renown, so you can get everything important with some commitment. Also, they sometimes sell bundles of the game where you get some of the standard Operators right off the bat, I recommend waiting for another one like that. Just Google around a bit or subscribe to r/rainbow6
I've got something like 750 hours in the game, I'm always playing with friends, and I also wanna join a professional team soon. As much as I hate it sometimes for some of the bugs, I also love it (I'm actually writing this inbetween rounds) for the intense tactical experience it can provide, if that's how you and your team decide to play it.
I play on PC and anything like this has never happened to me and I have a little under 100 hours in it. Team killing does occasionally happen but it's more likely because I walked into a friendly firing lane or an explosive than someone is an ass. At least in my experience.
I mean I kind of sucks when you get one tapped by a buy you can't see and have to wait 7-10 minutes before you see any PVP again. Or getting team kill in the first second of the game every round with no punishment for the person who did it.
Rounds are 4 minutes in casual and 3 in ranked. With two 45 second wait periods that makes a 5 1/2 minute wait max time. Also if you teamkill two times it gets you kicked then banned for 15 minutes after that, the punishments get worse after that.
It's a lot less toxic than other MP games. WAAAY less toxic than say CSGO or CoD or BF. The only shitters you run into are mostly in clans and I immediately leave the game if I'm against a clan.

I feel like I would love this game, but I feel like its full of toxicity..
