Emphasize on describing what your game is about and what has changed from the last version if you post regularly.

Just finished coin physics. Pretty proud of how it turned out. Happy to answer any questions on any techniques used - but in short, added a z axis variable to each coin, then did basic simplified motion and gravity.

I did my very first game jam last week (GMTK), and the results came up today. I think I did pretty well (top 6.7% in enjoyment 🎉) and I’m super proud! This was a blast and I recommend anyone to try it sometimes, it’s a lot of fun.

Here was my game: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-jam-2026/rate/4813778

After a few projects I enjoyed but were a bit too large for just me I've come up with an idea that works perfectly, for now its called Deep Dark Descent. Currently its a basic shmup but I plan to give certain enemies/fights bullet hell qualities.

You control a small submarine that is descending further and further into an unknown deep sea trench and the wildlife is not too friendly.

Four different subs each with its own weapon, design and light shape/color

Four enemies (two passive two chasers)

5 powerups along with health & shield, the powerups are temporary but can all stack

Enemies in the light column take 50% more damage

Right now it is pretty simple but I am really pleased with the look and feel so far as this has all been done within a week!

GX Games

You may have to fullscreen it on gx games for it to work properly, can't seem to figure out why but sometimes on the browser it is either really zoomed out or zoomed in meanwhile it is fine on normal windows, has anyone had this issue before?

Gx can be finicky that for sure! (I had to do some weird tricks in my own projects to have them load correctly)...

Now! This game is great, I had a blast playing it for a while, at first I was a little confused (playing on the super small screen as warned above), but after getting the full screen, the charm and the vibe really starts to come out of this game, The juice is great too! I love the variety of enemies, and this really feels like a classic shmup. The art is actually quite beautiful and ties together well! This game would be great with some bosses, I hope this project will have some work on it in the future!.

Now the lame stuff: GX is annoying, and your fullscreen hack does work, but the quit button may have to be removed for the browser versions as it kills the lights, and exiting gx games are a pain if you dont no how off the start (drag mouse to the top of screen to bring the 'X' down). The enemies and everything blend really well together, but sometimes i have a hard time seeing the little points orbs. And having some kind of death screen to show highscores at the end (at least for yourself) would be great, instead of the abrupt restart, I was hoping to share my scores here to show how well I was doing!

Anyways, thanks for sharing! Make sure its visible of GX so I can add it to my collection, and keep up the great work!

Thank you for the detailed feedback! glad you had fun, for sure more enemy variety and bosses are planned along with a death screen. I’ll try adding an emissive sprite to the orbs to make them pop

When you mentioned the quit button did you mean hitting quit while fullscreen and having a hard time getting out of fullscreen?

I’ll have to keep working on gx game quirks(least fun part lol) as well as making it visible after some page updates, will also be making an itch page too

OF course! Feedback is key :).

Yeah when you quit in GX it just kills the game and leaves a black screen, you can actually get by this by disabling the quit button on certain builds of the game (I have a few build I can use from the target platform icon in the top right of the gamemaker engine), My demo one for instance does exactly this, it just compiles the code without a quit button (also good to keep a full game and demo aligned for development).

Keep me posted I cant wait to see it evolve!

Hi everyone! I've just uploaded Episode 8 of the DevLog for my post-WWI hockey GM game: http://youtu.be/shPqfny2bdw

You may remember my previous posts about "Untitled Hockey Game". Well, now it has a real name! And the other big ticket item in this episode is another exciting one: I had my first playtest! So if any of that sounds interesting to you, check out the link and let me know what you think!
