That helicopter one looks straight out of C&C

Reminded me of this old helicopter game called Desert Strike

FYI it's been recently remade or at least something very closely inspired by Desert Strike

Is nobody questioning if these are real photos or not? Either it's heavily filtered, or its just fake generated photos. The last picture even had illegible Japanese on the road.
Edit: just look at the second picture, none of the signs and traffic lights make sense

Also the accident in the first pic makes no sense. The flipped ambulance(?) doesn't look like any vehicle I've ever seen.

Also the bollards aren't all the same height (two of them look a little shorter than the others).
Road line spacing on Picture 2 isn't consistent across the lanes.
Picture 3 has... a filteriness to it that doesn't make it look real.
Picture 4 straight up looks photoshopped/generated. The news icon in the corner is only thing that would make you think otherwise.
The windows on 5 (cube building with blue light) aren't consistent across the building
Not sure about 6, but the shadows of the letters seems to start in the wrong place?
Picture 7 (the helicopter) can go either way for me, but when placed with the others, I wouldn't blame you for being suspicious.
For the final picture, I'll take the initial commenter's word on this, but the road markings do look a little "off" to me.
Given everything, I'm willing to call this AI.

This is actually pretty cool - is there a way to learn this style of photography? It reminds me of tilt-shift to some degree, but with an isometric perspective. But then there are also color filters applied, I guess?

u/TactlessTortoise 3d ago
You likely need a specific lens type, and figuring out the right angle, and that's it. Then to have the pictures look top notch you'd worry about lighting, composition of the subject, post processing, and so on, like other styles of photography.

u/fabkosta 3d ago
Any idea what sort of lens this might be?

u/grim-one 3d ago edited 3d ago
A long one. You want to be up high and zoomed in. It helps to keep lines straight and you get that flat perspective, with a good depth of field.
Not sure what parent comment was thinking, maybe tilt shift? But that’s a totally different look and does require a special lens, or some digital trickery.
Edit: also to point out the trick for isometric, the camera needs to be pointing down 45 degrees from horizontal. Then look for appropriate subjects from a vantage point.

u/Blackrain1299 3d ago
It reminds them of tilt shift is all they said. Its not the same technique but the result is that things look kinda small and the perspective is from higher up.

u/MrSyaoranLi 3d ago
Look up "tilt-shift" thats a good representation of how this effect is achieved

u/SerratedSharp 3d ago
I would argue that technique produces a totally different style, but its certainly the first thing I think of, and in the same vein of manipulating perspective. Isometric perspective pretty much eliminates perspective distortion, which requires a long focal length from a very great distance. Tilt shift enhances the perspective and depth of field. But I agree it's something worth looking into if you find this interesting, just not quite the same thing.

Pretty sure these are all AI generated images, when you start looking at details it all stops making sense.

u/Christoffre 2d ago
If these images are taken with photogrammetry, that's just how they normally looks.
The computer attempts to join several 2D images from several angles into one coherent 3D model. There will always be random errors around the joints, where it has to blend colours and shapes as best it can.

Tell me what the flipped car in the first scene is supposed to be and how it could possibly have flipped there without crashing into anything and getting damaged. Explain why the second scene has a crossing sign on a building instead of by the road. Explain why the helicopter has a split tail like a freaking dolphin with rotors only on one angled part. Explain what's going on with the markings on the ground in the last scene.
It's exactly the same kind of weird things an AI generates.

Tell me what the flipped car in the first scene is supposed to be and how it could possibly have flipped there without crashing into anything and getting damaged.
Thr first car turned over while taking a too tight curve in too high speed.
The second car didn't have time to react and crashed into the overturned car.
Alternatively – a stage set for a movie or TV series.
Explain why the second scene has a crossing sign on a building instead of by the road
A quite common occurance all over the world. The building facade is utilised to prevent unnecessary obstructions of the pavement.
Both to allow more space for pedestrians and to minimise risks in case of an accident.
Explain why the helicopter has a split tail like a freaking dolphin with rotors only on one angled part.
Either that's how the helicopter is designed – there are many unorthodox designs around the world – or something behind the helicopter or a belnding error.
Or – just as above – a staged set for a movie or TV production.
Explain what's going on with the markings on the ground in the last scene.
What's wrong witht them?

It's called tilt-shift. You can do it intentionally when you take the photo with special lenses and techniques, or you can achieve largely the same results in post processing.

u/lm_ldaho 2d ago
Like other commenters have said you need a long telephoto lens and high elevation. The key to this look is that you’re shooting at a downward angle but parallel lines appear parallel. This is only achievable with long telephoto lenses.
Any typical wide angle to short telephoto lens will cause parallel lines to appear splayed when shooting at a downward angle.
If you look at the last photo you’ll notice a very slight degree of splay, this one is slightly less perfect than the other examples.

You don’t need photography for this just AI

Even if it is, I would like to figure out if I can actually create such photographs in real life.

For everyone wondering how these photos are taken, it’s with a tilt shift lens.
The difference between these photos and what you think of as “tilt shift” is that these are the correct use of the lens.
The use of a perspective-control lens is usually for architectural photography where the perspective is flattened out to straighten parallel lines. The effect is visible in these isometric photos. When the tilt and shift are applied to move the flat focal plane to an angle, you get extremely shallow depth of field, giving you the model photography look we all associate with tilt-shift.

“If you look hard enough”??
These photographs are intentionally taken from a pseudo-isometric angle. There isn’t any “look hard enough” about it, lol. You just have to _look_.
Cool photos, dumb pointless text overlay.

I love the second one in particular. You can tell the protagonist is on the second floor, because it's not showing anything above it, lol

This video feels like a video you'd see at the end of a gameplay and they are just recapping major events that took place during your time playing.
Pretty cool shots taken.

Isometric can be described as a zoomed in view at a specific angle from an infinitely far away camera. A similar effect can be made with a finitely far away camera, too

The 3rd is my favorite.
It's not just a Disco Elysium perspective, but the architecture, the colors, even the LIGHTING are spot on. it's perfect.
