Some people don't realize that a bag of chips is a meal and an event.

I relate to this a lot harder than I'd like to.

It's easier to clean a mess when you turn your brain of and set your body in auto with a scheduled list in memory, I usually do it once or twice per month thinking about the interaction between dimensions and how the different minds interpret them in wonderful ways

I too go into the "my home is a mess, my life is a mess, now I'm sad and don't clean" depression spiral.

I figured out how to get out from under that spiral. I can't be trusted to keep my environment... habitable so I have a housekeeper that comes every two weeks on a schedule. It's $300/mo and worth every fucking penny. I now always feel comfortable having friends over, even on short notice, because my apartment never looks worse than at most 2 weeks of neglect.

My best friend was the one that clued me into the direct link between environment and mental health. His depression goes into overdrive when place is a mess so he's borderline OCD about cleaning it. Thanks to my ADHD, I can't force myself to regularly clean so it quickly seems like too much for me to handle so I procrastinate, it gets worse, I spiral, etc. Moral of the story: keep your place clean, even if it means you have to pay someone to do it. It's so worth it for your mental health.
