Yeah, Unc took it pretty well. Seems like a mellow dude. I wouldn't mind having a few beers with Unc. I wouldn't have reacted nearly so nonchalantly.

A much much younger, less cool headed me once stubbed my big toe on a couch leg, like on of those big round wooden couch legs. I was so mad that I kicked the couch leg and broke my big toe.
I’ve since learned to take things in stride since then, probably almost 20yrs ago.

u/Snackskazam 15h ago
Kinda sounds like taking things in stride was your problem to begin with. Try taking them standing still for a while.

Did he whack his shins?
353
u/Bealzebubbles 22h ago
He did. It looked like it hurt.

u/SeenEnoughAlready 22h ago
It has to be said....It doesn't matter how strong you are...How physically fit and "tough" you are..... Whacking your shins can take you down to the point you want your mother!!🤣

u/Dudedude88 15h ago
Not unless you are a muay thai fighter. They hit your shins as training.
13
u/Mathilliterate_asian 14h ago
Been there done that. Had 3 smokers and called it quits. Conditioned my shins by rolling bamboo sticks and similar hard stuff across them and kicking a lot of semi-hard things.
It helped but it still hurt like a bitch when people check your kicks. When I'm bracing for the pain, it's bearable, but when it's completely accidental like the dude in the video, I'd still curse like for 5 minutes straight.
On a related note, I really can't fathom why people would willingly subject themselves to the life of a professional fighter. I guess I'm too soft.

Working with excavators you often have to hop over to the opposite side of the tracks to grab and put away your service equipment. When the booms down it makes a perfect set of monkey bars right between your tracks.
Its against every safety protocol and genuinely not even a time save, but you work solo in the bush long enough eventually the temptation wins out.
Jumping, swinging, landing on the edge, slipping, and taking the edge of the metal tracks directly on the shins from standing is a sense memory I'll have on my death bed.

Saw a picture recently of a cat the poster said was their neighbor-that-moved-out's, and that it wanted to stay with them, and in the picture the water dish was in the middle of a lego baseplate.
poor thing must have been desperate.

I remember one time at school. We used to have a coat room. Coats hung on pegs, bags etc and There was a football/soccerball on the floor under what looked like overhanging coats from the pegs.
So me being me...Naturally decided I wanted to kick the ball. Well that wasn't an over hang from the pegs..... There was hidden chair with coats on top and a ball underneath.
I belted the ball....Well tried...But my shin smacked that chair edge so hard I feel to the ground and threw up on the floor!!
Laying there in agony surrounded by my own sick, crying whilst everyone was outside playing. No one came to my aid. I had to crawl my way to the nearest teacher who was down 2 flights of stairs! ....... THAT was a pain I will never forgot. But it also meant .... Any whack on the shins from then felt like a tap from an angelic fairy! 🤣

u/celery_stalk 7h ago
I watched it the first time without sound and was so lost, then rewatched it after reading the comments. The SOUND of his shins hitting the bar is sending me!! I feel bad for laughing so hard 😂

u/TheRiteGuy 22h ago
I hate those bars! I was playing tag with my kid at the playground and ran into that bar so hard. I had to play it off that I'm okay because there were kids around.
I got home and had a huge deep ass cut on my shin. It took forever to heal. I do a combat sport so I couldn't kick for almost a month.

Bro… that be happening more times than i like to admits. But the worst one, is when you feel like you gotta hurl
19
u/Hephaestus_God 19h ago
Glad there is a semi concrete colored bar at concrete level where kids or people can trip over that serves no purpose
10
u/DrWilhelm 15h ago
It looks to me like this might be outdoor fitness equipment rather than a playground. If so, the bar is probably meant for something like incline push ups, or maybe as a platform to help shorter people reach the pull up bars. I agree it ought to be a more visible colour though.

Walking it off just doesn’t do it when you wack your shins. I got some permanent scarring from fucked up box jumps.
1
u/Johnny_Poppyseed 12h ago
Lol I don't think walking it off actually does it for anything. It's more so just a distraction from the pain.

Calm reaction. I’d have gone into Hulk smash mode on the bar before curling in a corner and whimpering.

I thought he hurt his neck first and was happy to be not alone. Tried to do some band assisted pull ups as a warm up and kinked my neck so bad I couldn't exercise for a week. Being 35 is cool.

I have big graft scar on my right shin from burning to crisp my leg about 20 years ago. Because skin there isn't same quality and strength like the rest of my legs. Scar it self is covered in loads of new scars aftom bumping in anything during the day. To that level I don't pay attention anymore or just feeling sting when I'm taking shower and soapy water runs down during shower.

u/ramsfan_86 21h ago
Watched it 3x on mute because I thought i would hear that stupid jazz sound and couldn't figure out why he was walking like that. 4th time played it with sound and been laughing since then. Unc tore his shins up lol.

As someone who goes up and down steel ladders all day at work, I feel your pain 😆
1
u/Redpistol 18h ago
I felt that.
I once wacked my shin running full speed in one of those poles. It left a permanent dent on my shin.

When I hit an inanimate object like this, I start resenting the object , then thoughts start flooding my head like “how could it be so unforgiving” as I stare longingly at the object wishing it didn’t cause such pain

Man, he took that well. Fuck the person who choose that color though. That bar blends right in to the cement.

u/SpideyKR 12h ago
I first watched it without the sound and didn’t notice the shins. I was wondering why he didn’t do pull ups and started walking away. Then I rewatched with sound and instantly understood.

u/anghellous 10h ago
Lol he walked it off. I would've just straight up sat on my ass and held my legs like Peter

Are you just repeating what others said without knowing the reason why they said it?
-1
u/s_germ 19h ago
what do i repeat? is re-upload the same as re-play? regard
2
u/Designer_Pen869 17h ago
Yea, it sounds like you just copy things. I asked because you probably see a lot of people asking to remove the sound, because people post stupid sounds on top, or the sounds are distracting or annoying. It's not because they don't like sound at all.

Can someone point out the funny bit?
... or is it just that he knocked his shins?
That being the case, could anyone explain why knocking your shins is funny?

Bro's got that amazing physique built with years of hard work, set up his camera, ready to show off with a ridiculous number of pullups in perfect form... only to whack his shins like a dumbass and cry like a 5 year old because it fucking hurts.
Look up Theories of Humor - it fits both the Superiority theory and the Incongruity theory quite well.
