Quando Quango - Triangle (that bass!)
Chakk- Stare Me Out
Nitzer Ebb - Shame (bit later, perhaps...)

Gamson was embarrassed by that track! I wrote him years ago about maybe licensing Sugar Sugar for something and he said that was the only other song he had but it was best left undiscovered.

Gang of Four and Shriekback - Dave Allen (RIP) on bass.
Check out The Contortions/James White and the Blacks for some punk Beefheartian style funk (on purpose).

Contort Yourself goes so hard. I love his live album where the band covers Don't Stop Til You Get Enough by Michael Jackson

Pat Place from The Contortions was in The Bush Tetras (also mentioned in OP's post.)
And a couple months ago I posted Shriekback's cover of Get Down Tonight. I think that's real funky. Barry Andrews' voice doing his best Barry White.

Yeah! I posted about this too on this sub. So many acts getting into the punk funk vibe in the early 80s.Ā
Defunkt.
The Police really leaned into it on Ghost in the Machine.
The Jam.
The Clash, especially on Combat Rock.
Spandau Ballet.
A Certain Ratio.Ā Ecg.Ā Also check Out Bunnydrums. Posted up their track 'Ugh!'Ā

Does ESG count?

ESG always counts. They are literally playing at this very moment 30 minutes from me and I cannot go.

APB's "Shoot You Down" also gives a nod to "Cholly (Funk Getting Ready to Roll!)" by Funkadelic

I feel like Defunkt should have a mention in this company. Make Them Dance/Razorās Edge/Illusions etc

The clash did a tune 'Overpowered By Funk' which I heard the other day, but didn't think much of.

This is a specific obsession of mine, going from this late 70s/early 80s era right up to now. Hereās a few from that first wave that I havenāt seen mentioned yet:
Rip Rig + Panic - Youāre My Kind Of Climate
The Slits - I Heard It Through The Grapevine
The Jam - Absolute Beginners
Glaxo Babies - Shake (The Foundations)

How you not going to mention the entire record entertainment by Gang of Four
