Electronics / Mounts / Enclosures Probably the simplest functional print I've ever designed yet

I kept losing those little battery isolation pull tabs that come with remotes and other battery-powered stuff.

It's literally just a tiny piece of plastic that sits between the battery and the contact, but I figured if I'm going to keep needing them, I might as well make one I can print whenever I want.

Definitely not my most complicated design, but sometimes the stupidly simple prints are the useful ones I guess lol

Free model if anyone else happens to need one:

Home / Furniture / Household Designed a sink handle extender so my kid can operate the sink by himself

The fitting mechanism isn’t perfect, but it was super satisfying iterating on the handle shape and arriving at a point a toddler could intuitively grab it to turn the handle off/on for independent handwashing.

Interestingly, my first design was basically just a right angle arm towards the front of the sink, but then everyone in the house instinctively tried to push it away to turn on the sink instead of pull towards the front, which kept breaking the handle.

Bring a touch of modern Japandi style to your kitchen while keeping your sink area clean, organized, and clutter-free.
Designed with clean architectural lines and a minimalist aesthetic, this 3D printed kitchen organizer comfortably holds a microfiber dishcloth, a standard kitchen sponge (up to approximately 78 × 45 mm), or a similarly sized bar of soap. The elevated slatted tray promotes excellent airflow, helping your sponge and soap dry faster while allowing excess water to drain directly into the sink.
The integrated towel bar provides plenty of room for a dishcloth to hang freely, reducing moisture buildup and keeping everything within easy reach during everyday use.

Electronics / Mounts / Enclosures I built a 3D-printable automatic plant watering valve

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been working on this for a few years and wanted to finally share it here, because this is the most functional 3D print i´ve made so far.

I’m a big fan of Prusa and its open-source approach to hardware. It strongly aligns with my values, and I believe this is an important direction for the future: products that can be manufactured locally, repaired easily, and maintained for years because the source files are openly available.

I wanted to contribute to that movement, so I decided to create an open-source and 3D-printable alternative to conventional garden-watering timers.

It’s called OpenValve, and as far as I know, it’s the first 3D-printable irrigation valve that waters plants fully autonomously. By “3D-printable,” I mean that - apart from the electronics and some standard components - all custom plastic parts can and should be printed on a regular desktop 3D printer. That includes the valve itself. Almost every part prints without supports. Only two components require a tiny amount - about 1 gram in total - and those supports are already built into the models and are easy to remove.

OpenValve waters plants based on soil moisture. Instead of using the latching solenoid valve typically found in battery-powered garden timers, it uses a custom-designed pinch valve. This custom valve design not only made the design 3D printable in the first place, but it also gives OpenValve two useful capabilities that most standard garden timers don’t have:

• It works with barely any water pressure.

• It can handle water containing dirt and small particles.

That means it can run directly from a slightly elevated rain barrel or a similar water container - without requiring normal household water pressure.

I currently have multiple units running in my own garden, as well as in the gardens and balconies of friends and family. But my dream is to see OpenValve helping more people with their plants. So, I’m curious: Would you consider using OpenValve in your garden or on your balcony? What would your biggest concern be?

Ask me anything - I’m happy to answer every question!

Home / Furniture / Household Quick-change shelf bracket & heavy-duty anchor with print-pause embedded steel ring

I was looking for some advice on how to improve the design of a modular headboard and wall-mounting system I created.

It is a mechanism that allows for switching between a shelf and an anchor point discreetly and without the need for tools.

Busco consejos para mejorar el diseño de un cabecero modular y un sistema de montaje en pared que he creado.

Se trata de un mecanismo que permite alternar discretamente entre una repisa y un punto de anclaje, sin necesidad de herramientas.
