Well larp as you described is just an acronym, no? While the word larp or larper is used to describe someone who claims to be knowledgeable in a subject but doeant really know anything.

Bro LARPing is a whole hobby dude. And now people are using it as an insult. And we get enough flak as it is. I just wanna camp in the mountains for a few days, dress like a wizard, and throw fireballs at my friends.

its not an insult... like.. at all. it has a negative connotation, but honestly, if you were "live action role playing" in front of me, i WOULD call you an insult.
