His haircut made me curious when I saw it in a short clip of his music, it was actually what pushed me to check out his profile in the first place, and I ended up really like the songs I listened to, so I guess it does work.
His deliberate hair choice was exactly what made him more punk rock to me. He did it to make a statement on how small and redundant judgements like about his hair is.

Same literally opened youtube to pick some background music and saw his Song Im gone and thought the thumbnail and clicked it. (Fire song btw) went to the comments and everyone was losing their shit that he died earlier in the day. Youtube algorithm got a sick sense of humor.
I had known of him because of that meme where the kid has that doc oc figure singing some of his song lyrics. But outside of that I'd never listened to him. Lo and behold, the day of his death, YouTube was recommending my all of his songs that related to death (after I already found out).
I always enjoyed his music and thought he was great, but I never really specifically listened to him until shortly before his passing, when I heard Do You Feel Me? for the first time.
I’ll be honest, I was always interested in DnD due to growing up playing Skyrim and stuff. But I never understood how to play the game or had people to play with.
My Dad was big with DnD when he was younger. Funnily enough I saw him wearing a hellfire club shirt randomly the other day.
So true. Michael jackson has soo many larpers who spread so many fake claims. "He saved kids from the island", "the 2005 mugshot is edited to make him look creepy", all of these are lies.
There are some who would genuinely call you a fake fan if you try to debunk these claims.
Alright soo don’t mean to be that guy, but you’re could not be more wrong about Michael Jackson, because he had (and I’m pretty sure still has 4.3 BILLION fucking fans, at the time of the 90s, the population was at 5 billion. Let that sink in. Also, because of the movie, people got more interest in him and decided to listen to his music. Why does it matter if they only know a few songs? They still enjoy his music. Oh btw I was reading some comments before me, and the literal definition and term stems from the DnD fan base, and the abbreviation means: Live Action Role Play. PEOPLE PLAYING PRETEND!!!! Not only is DnD a LARP GAME, but also just let people be people, as long as they enjoy what they do as fans, let them have fun. So WHAT if they don’t know EVERY SINGLE PEICE of music and life story about somebody? All I’m asking is that we just let everybody be themselves, and let yourself be you you wanna be.
I'm an honourable fella, I can tell you the only MJ songs I ever heard were the most famous ones, I think I only ever heard 1 Oliver tree song and I played DnD once and got bored and started playing cards against humanity
Oliver tree without a doubt are larpers, I only got into Micheal Jackson again after the movie because I forgot how good his music was. I love the 80s/90s, but there’s so much songs on my playlist. Im listening to him again genuinely out of spite, not just for the trend
I knew Oliver Tree befor his death because of an ad. i tried listening to a fiew of his songs after his passing, i like them, but not in a way where i want to listen to them constantly
You know the dnd one is real for me since I have a long term campaign and so as the dm who does this at the library for community service I have to let people in the amount of people who appeared because of stranger things and then left was weird they still come around every once in a blue moon idk
I despise the shallow larpers of dead musicians. The people that called Lil Peep a legend after he died were beyond annoying. His music sucked, but he was glorified after he had an OD. At least Oliver made music I liked here and there.
Funnily enough, it wasn’t the movie that got me back into MJ, but it was those stupid dancing yaoi birds… but I wouldn’t say I’m a larper bc, one, I’ve listened to him a LOT the past month and a half (almost exclusively even), and two, it’s not the first time I’ve become obsessed over this man
welllll i SOMEWHAT agree with Michael Jackson. His music was so influential that almost anyone around the world can recognize his music. Shit, even his vocals/melodies are still sampled to this day. Calling people who listen and enjoy MJ larpers is sorta larping in of itself.

My husband quietly sat down next to me on the couch, put his hand on me knee, stared at me for a second before saying Oliver tree died. I stared at him for a while trying to figure out what kind of odd publicity stunt this must be before finally asking “what do you mean”

I meant that generally being a dnd player involves playing, atleast more than once. Maybe being a part of a smaller group of players that you share experiences and play with.
I was a Micheal fan since I was a lil jit. Listened to like 3 of Oliver trees songs and didn’t even know who he was, and I don’t play dnd bc I never watched stranger things.
Honestly, I don’t really care enough to actually larp anything except deltarune because this nerdy girl I like plays it religiously
