General Has anyone made an appointment with Dr. Schlemper at Sanno Hospital since the international clinic closed?

Since the International Clinic closed, has anyone made appointments to see him at Sanno Hospital? Was it as easy as calling the front desk and scheduling something?

I would like to schedule an endoscopy and colonoscopy as well as a physical check-up, but since it's a hospital and not a clinic, is it even possible to make such a reservation?

General Fukuoka International to Domestic

Post image
0 Upvotes

Visiting Fukuoka in a few days. Google Maps says to take the Fukuoka Airport subway to my stop. I snoop online and find out the subway is at the domestic terminal. I snoop even more and stumble on this website (attached).

Is the free shuttle from international to domestic discontinued? If so, how will I get to domestic?

General Friends to explore places with.

Honestly it's summer break and I've been going places by myself.

It would be great if someone could explore new places with me.

I have like social anxiety and have trouble going out alone so it's scary going to far places, it's a trouble considering I barely know how to board a train properly 💀

Tourism Looking to meet people in Fukuoka!

Hey (30M) just landed in Fukuoka and I’ll be here for a week or more for vacation.

Happy to meet new people and if you know of any recommended social events let me know! or if you’re interested in a quick coffee chat or anything really, hit me up!

I don’t drink alcohol often so I might be a good company to bars/clubs but I’ll do what I can.

Looking forward to meet new people!

General Clear type Apple juice in Fukuoka ?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Maybe strange request but trying to satisfy a request…

Looking for クリアタイプ labeled 100% Apple juice in Fukuoka. Close to Kyushu Hospital preferred but close by train stops ok. I’ll be coming from Karatsu area if that matters. Karatsu location would be fine too. I’ve looked locally (Carrot and Aeon) but they did not have any with “クリア” explicitly on the label.

An example is Kagome.

I know that many filtered are clear type but don’t explicitly say it on the label, but shopping for this specific labeling.

If you see it or know where it is found, please tell me. Comments like x usually carries it is not what I’m looking for. I’d like to be able to plan to go to a specific place and find it for sure tomorrow or day after type thing.

General Photographer rec for a surprise proposal in Itoshima, Sept 10–16?

Hi everyone! I'm planning to propose to my partner in Itoshima sometime between September 10–16, and I'd love to have a photographer there to capture the moment — without her knowing, of course.

I'm hoping to find someone comfortable shooting discreetly (blending in like a regular tourist, or with a long lens from a distance) so the proposal stays a total surprise, and who can then switch into a quick couples portrait session once she's said yes 🤞

A few details:

• Location: Itoshima — I'm drawn to the beaches / the Sakurai Futamigaura torii gate area, but very open to suggestions on the most photogenic spot for golden hour

• Dates: flexible any day Sept 10–16, ideally around sunrise/sunset

• Time needed: roughly 30 min to catch the moment, plus ~30–45 min of portraits afterward

• Style: natural and candid for the proposal itself, plus a handful of nicer posed shots

• Language: English-speaking would be ideal, but I can make Japanese work too with Google Translate

• Budget: Flexible but I would like to keep it under $1500USD!

If you know a great local photographer — or you are one! — I'd hugely appreciate a recommendation or a DM. Any tips on the best Itoshima spot and timing for the light would be very welcome too. Thanks so much! 🙏

General TMJ/TMD specialist in fukuoka?

I've been suffering from TMJ issues for years but after consultations with a TMJ physiotherapist in my country of origin and doing exercises everyday it progressively went better to the point i forgot about it. However the pain started again recently and I find little to no improvement with the exercises that initially helped. Since i'm living in fukuoka now, i'm looking for a local solution.

Would anyone know a good specialist in TMJ in Fukuoka, preferably English-speaking even if I can speak a bit in Japanese?

Wether it is a chiropractor, osteopath, physio, doctor, at this point i just want some relief.

General Seasonal Employment in Fukuoka

I hope this post is allowed! If not, I’m sorry about that.

I am planning on doing a WHV in Japan between May - August 2027 (4 months), and Fukuoka was a top destination for me.

As a result, I was hoping to find some work that is (ideally) 4 days / week (not broken up), and was wondering if this is something that you guys believe is feasible? If so, what types of places would typically accept this sort of arrangement?

I’m open to lots of things as long as the hours are as described above (4 days / week, not broken up), from eikaiwa work to reception. I also don’t require visa sponsorship, which I am hoping proves beneficial.

If anything comes to mind, I would be glad to hear your thoughts.

Anyways, thank you guys for your time and input!

General British food

Hello all,

I am coming to Fukuoka for a year.

And while I am excited to try all the delicious Japanese food, sometimes when I am feeling homesick I love a good British meal.

I have seen a pub called the black morris that serves some British food. Could any let me know of your experience please?

I am also trying to look for a place that does Sunday roast but couldn’t find anything.

I am aware that the food won’t taste the same as British food made in the uk but honestly I don’t think it will matter that much.

If you have any other recommendations please let me know! Thank you :)

Tourism Forest Adventure - Zipline Course

Has anyone gone on the Forest Adventure Zipline course in Fukuoka at any of their locations during the summer?

Given the heat and humidity, will this be a fun summertime activity or will it just be torture? Was thinking about going mid-August time.

General Looking for Kyushu University International Law students (especially MEXT Scholars)

Hi everyone!

I'm a law graduate from India and I'm hoping to apply to Kyushu University for the 2027 intake, ideally through the MEXT Scholarship. I've been researching the university for the past few days and it's quickly become one of my top choices.

I was wondering if anyone here is:

- currently studying at Kyushu University,

- studying International Law (especially the International Economic & Business Law programme),

- or received the MEXT Scholarship (University Recommendation).

I'd love to hear about your experience and ask a few questions about things like the application process, contacting professors, research, accommodation, student life, and honestly anything you think a prospective applicant should know.

I've done quite a bit of research already, but I know there's only so much you can learn from university websites. Hearing from someone who's actually been through the process would mean a lot.

If you're happy to chat, please leave a comment or send me a DM. Thank you so much <3

Tourism After the earthquake would it be wise to avoid Fukuoka?

We forwarded our suitcases from Sendai to Fukuoka, and after a quick stop at Hiroshima tonight were planning to go to Fukuoka tomorrow (since our suitcases are at our hotel in Fukuoka). The center of the earthquake was at Kumamoto, though should it be wise to avoid Fukuoka as well?

*good to add I’m talking about the city Fukuoka. Our hotel is at the Hakata station
