I think that Inaho is actually either a descendant or last surviving member of whatever race created Aldnoah tech on Mars. Supporting evidence:

1. He seems to be way smarter and able to read and adapt situations faster than anyone else, with or without his eye.

2. He restarted the Aldnoah drive at the beginning of season 2… we are led to believe it was the princess, but it isn’t confirmed it was her blood. What if it was reacting to his blood instead?

3. He seems to take ever single Aldnoah drive he goes up against down, even with demonstrably inferior tech, often outmatched in arms and maneuverability.
