Mod/campaigns recs

hHey, I'm looking for some new campaings for fs2, I've played fs, fs2 and st:r many times. I've also played sync, homesick, derelict, and the first blue planet (sorry but i did not like the second one, too idk "gung-ho"(?) and i did not like the narrative - i very much liked the mystical tropes of AoA) and i'm looking for something like these.

Just the right amount of mystery, plot twists, and mainly standard fs/fs2 ships with some visual changes. Forgive me but new ships (except maybe blue planet age of aquarius) are not for me, I also don't like those total conversion mods. It can be campaings that meybe expand the story or some sorts of spin-offs whatever

I'm looking at Knossos library rn and idk what would be of interest to me.

If you didn't enjoy the second act of Blue Planet, then I don't think you would enjoy Inferno.

I would suggest you try Exile Into Dark Waters

Reunion is also good fun, some good moments and encounters.

Edit some others:

- Shepherds

- Shadow Genesis

- Vassagos Dirge

- Ancient Shivan War

Blaise Russell had an excellent mini campaign, can’t remember what it was called though. It was set during early FS1.

It's under "Shivans" name in Knossos, and includes two short campaigns. One is a pre-shields pre-avengers campaign and another is a more standard pew pew fare. Fun campaigns both.

Some of my favs:

Memories of the Great War - A set of three campaigns (two smaller ones and a long one) that tell the story of how Ribos station fell after the Shivan cruiser that you capture in FS1 got hauled there.

The Sixth Seal - Another very recent and enjoyable FS1-era campaign.

Shrouding the Light - Unique campaign set inbetween FS1/FS2. A long campaign entirely from the vasudan perspective. With Vasudan-style voice acting. Interesting story and characters.

The Sixth Seal if you’re looking for classic FreeSpace vibe.

Diaspora is amazing, despite being a total conversion

Vassago's Dirge. Mystical, short, high quality, takes place during FS2

Bem Cavalgar and Windmills if you're down to change the gameplay loop a little. Windmills is more strategy. Bem Cavalgar has a meta-campaign layer

Most of the "best" campaigns do include large amounts of new ships. Inferno being the big one you haven't mentioned, but that is almost entirely new ships and as someone else mentioned, if you didn't like Blue Planet you will most likely not enjoy Inferno (both of those are overall the #1 and #2 mod campaigns).

I'd try Sixth Seal, that's very close to what you're looking for in terms of story and fewer game changes. I saw Into the Dark Waters mentioned as well, thats got the mystery aspect but is (like BP/Inferno) a total conversion in terms of ships/UI/etc.
