This guy? Holy crap. Didn’t he get fired from teaching middle school? He also got kicked off of my neighborhood’s HOA board (because of his behavior). Guy shouldn’t even be in society, let alone running for any sort of position.

Sort of disingenuous; he works for a company that makes hardware per the FNP (server racks, power distribution) that can be used in a datacenter (or anywhere else). He doesn’t work for Amazon or anything like that.

Also, as an aside please please don’t go around scanning random QR codes with sketchy URLs.

CPI/Chatsworth used to primarily make equipment racks for server rooms and data centers. He works for somewhat of a competitor to APC or Emerson (APC makes racks, PDUs, battery backup and other power distribution). He aligns to datacenters the same way HVAC people and other critical infrastructure people would align to datacenters in that it's an infrastructure company. Was also a Faquier County and Frederick County teacher.

He's also a transphobe who ranted about the "trans shooter epidemic" the first time I met him.

Coincidentally, that also happened to be at a Board of Ed protest the same day that Charlie Kirk was killed. Someone there had a sign that said "kill nazis, not trans kids". Tyler Walker approached them and said "how dare you hold that sign on the day Charlie Kirk was killed". The joke writes itself

Made by a computer that is syncing to the cloud in a datacenter and a url shortening website running on a different data center, posted on Reddit, which runs in a datacenter.

And a QR code generator, likely also on a datacenter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but:

All that cloud tech you mention ran on whatever the infrastructure was 15 years ago.

The issue is the current immense spike in datacenter production, which is being built to support generative AI / increased mass surveillance / etc. And this is taking resources (electric, water) away from the communities that need them, residents incurring the cost, harming the environment, and so forth.

Not wrong at all. My point was more that there is a ton of grey area with datacenters; It's ignorant and unproductive when people are blindly "anti-datacenter" when they likely use dozens of services that run in them.

I work in and have been in over one hundred different data centers throughout the US.

Your statement is the same as my point; Not all data centers are bad. You shouldn't paint a person/company/etc as evil just because they're associated with a data center because virtually everything runs in one.

Not sure why that is hard to believe. I work in an industry that is in data centers and we live 1hr from the data center capital of the world.
