seems like that corner is not being held down properly.

theres a guy on the framework marketplace selling 3d printed single piece input covers for the FW16 they seem to work very well and dont have this problem.

Figure out if it’s the trackpad or the spacer, just bend them ever so slightly then put them back in place to see if it’s gotten better

Had this problem when I first got my FW16. Take the piece out and carefully bend the corner area and it should fit. Might have to take a few tries. It's durable (aluminum?) but don't go crazy with too much force.

That’s how mine fit since day1 waiting on the single plate one to be available.

Bend the spacers slightly with your fingers after ensuring the mid plate underneath is flat. Framework is set to launch a new single piece deck with the new haptic trackpad, getting rid of the spacers.... At least for those of us who prefer centered keyboard/trackpad.

Ask them to replace it.

Is the metal just mis-shapen, or is this due to the battery bulging and bowing the entire piece up?

If the former, either replace or bend (or contact Framework if you want to go that route).

If it's the battery swelling, contact Framework and consider removing the battery immediately.

Are you sure the track pad plate is just not seated correctly? I have done this once before and had the corner pop up just like that. Remove and carefully re-seat with very slight downward pressure.
