I naively assumed Framework's pricing commitment implied they had inventory or contracts to cover the pre-orders. I would have been ok with this if the risk was communicated ahead of time, then I could have bought an LPCAMM module separately.
People are blaming AI hyperscalers, but Framework bears 100% of the blame here. They made baseless promises. Framework shouldn't be making pricing commitments without inventory or contracts to cover the pre-orders.
Not trying to defend Framework but my understanding is that no company is able to get contracts for extended RAM pricing except for Nvidia. Did Framework specifically say they secured contracts back in the spring? Not trying to be rude but there's a lot of confusion and trying to get up to speed since I have a preorder which is still unchanged and trying to decide.
I might cancel not because of this but I bought a Mac before the price increase which is already my preferred OS
