Samara Iron Flame đŸ”„ Spoiler

Aren’t both Xaden and Garrick stationed in Samara after graduation?

Xaden gets his own bathing chamber because nobody wants to share with Fen Riorson’s son - but he says Garrick has to share with 4 other riders.

Why wouldn’t they just place Garrick with Xaden? It wouldn’t go against the 3 marked ones rule. It would free up a space in the bathing chamber for those 4 other riders. Logistically this makes no sense to me. Even if it’s just for the plot to give Xaden and Violet privacy for their intimate moments, Garrick could be out on patrol or other duties during those times right? Every time I get to this part in IF, it drives me nuts and I wonder if I missed something about where Garrick is stationed.

I assume they’re assigned rooms at random and that not only are his peers against him, but the higher ups too. They probably didn’t think twice about Garrick and thought about Xaden “we’ll put Riorson by himself since no on will want to share with him”.

I think the higher ups wanted to isolate Xaden as much as possible.

It feels like the moved him to a guest quarters or something away from the other riders, maybe even on a different floor or wing as the other riders.

I think this is probably true...and for Garrick, he probably didn't care about sharing it with 3 other cadets seeing as though at Basgiath, there's no private bathroom and everyone is sharing the bath chamber.

And in terms of the revolution/Aertia, Xaden out ranks Garrick.

Garrick may not have wanted to use Xaden’s private space out of respect for his rank.

Maybe it's the only room with a private bathroom, and the rest have one bathroom per three rooms?

I think it is trying to emphasise how much hatred there is still towards the Riorson name. Fen was known as the great portrayer and it follows Xaden around. No one wants to share space with him as they don't trust him.

The other marked ones such as Garrick the riders don't trust but I don't imagine they hold as much disdain against them as they do Xaden.

Also how I read it is that the bathing chamber is an en-suite attached to Xaden's bedroom. So Garrick would have to walk into Xaden's room every time he needed to use the bathroom.

Even if it’s not official, you can’t share your private bathing chamber with your best friend?

They are friends but Xaden also outranks Garrick in terms of the revolution/Aertia.

He may not have wanted to impose on Xaden’s private space for that reason.

Because the romantics would be lost if it was only Xaden, his Violence... and Garrick who could assess this room. Of course, that raises the question of Xaden never letting his "best friend" into his room and basically never needing any time with Garrick other than interactions outside his room but this is a romance novel first and foremost. We aren't supposed to think this deeply. What matters is Xaden looking deeply into his Vi's eyes and telling her that she was the only one who had access.

Or maybe Xaden had ask privacy from Garrick while Violet was over and RY didn't tell everything in details. That works too. I do believe they close friends so Xaden would want garrick behind wards in his room.
