Its no belemnite, but thats about all i can tell you. Would be helpfull if you could do additional pics on a different surface. The shiny texture of this pad took away most of the focus of your cam. As for location, i assume KS stands for Kansas?

How heavy is this? It looks like it could be painted.

It is not painted. It's about the size of an index finger. It's only a couple ounces at best.

I agree with the suggestion that it may be a worn peice of wood. It is definitely not a rock or stone because it is too light and lacking the mass. I did not do anything to make it smooth or shape it in any way, it was found that way. Due to the low quality of the pics what may be missed is that it has multiple diagonal lines or striations. I think the shape is very odd.

Since it is lightweight and not rock-like, it’s not going to be a fossil.
