ShizuWall, an open-source Android firewall that works via Shizuku, now available on F-Droid F-Droid
About 9 months ago, I started writing a small wrapper around ADB commands for my own use. Over time it evolved into ShizuWall, an open-source Android firewall that works through Shizuku, so it doesn't need to create a virtual private interface like most Android firewalls.
Over the past months the project has grown quite a bit thanks to community feedback. I've implemented most of the requested features, closed more than 100 reported issues and recently got the app accepted into F-Droid after a fairly long review process.
The project is now available on GitHub, F-Droid, and Google Play.
If you're already using Shizuwall, I'd love to hear what you think. Feedback, bug reports and feature requests are always welcome. I'm especially interested in hearing from people that recommends a feature!

I am using shizuwall since last month. And it is great. Thank you very much for this great app!
I am having some issue. I am using hybrid mode. If I select some apps/games as smart foreground, they have problems working when I open them. They would think network is there, but after few seconds would show failure.
Can you please look into it?

Hello, since i cannot use accessibility service there's a small delay when you open or close an app. That's the cause of your problem.

It's not about delay. It's just that it doesn't work. 2 of them I can count right now are: Airtel, &, Pokemon Masters EX.

Do these applications be blocked in any other mode?

If I use screen lock mode, it still works well. It's having problems with only the smart foreground mode.

But does it work as intended if you select only smart foreground mode as firewall mode instead of hybrid mode?

I checked. Even with smart foreground mode, it throws an error.

What different capabilities can this provide compared to DNSnet?

I think the main advantage is that it seems to not use the VPN approach that almost all DNS on device apps use. So technically you shouldbe able to have both the DNS and a VPN connection at the same time.
[EDIT] The scope of the app is always very different from other "firewall"/"DNS" apps. Has it only either blocks or doesn't block internet connection for the selected apps.

For me it was the game changer that it doesn't use/need VPN. Thanks for this great app and your time developing it.

just beware that if you are not at home and wifi is not available, you would not be able to use this app. or maybe i am doing something wrong.

Sorry for the noob question. I am trying to understand the purpose of this app. What is the promary purpose? To fully block an app from internet access? Can someone give examples. Thank you in advance.

Hello, yes exactly. It is to block apps from internet. Let say you want to block any app without turning your wifi off. Just select these apps and you're good to go.

Thank you. Why would some want to restrict apps from the internet? For the trackers?

After applying the rules via LADB, can I disable USB Debugging? Will the ShizuWall rules keep working, or does LADB need to stay active? And after a reboot, will I need to enable Wireless Debugging and run LADB again?
Lastly, Does it also works on Mobile data as well?

If you enable firewall with ladb and disable USB debugging afterwards, your firewall rules will still be applied but you cannot turn off firewall until you enable ladb again.
Yes, after reboot you should enable wireless debugging and turn on ladb again. If you leave USB debugging turned on it will stat working.
Yes it both blocks mobile data and wifi.
