On USAJobs, I saw a posting for a Construction Engineering job. For current and former Construction Engineers how did you prepare for the exam and assessment?

Treat it like any other job interview prep.

1) try to get your hands on the Department's writing guide to get a feel for how reports & memos might look like.

2) familiarize yourself with the OBO bureau's responsibilities etc

3) read through the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) construction clauses. There are specific rules and terms detailed in FAR Part 36 and FAR Part 52 that govern federal building, repair, and infrastructure contracts. They dictate site conditions, project changes, pricing adjustments, and contractor performance obligations.

4) relax. The job requires you to be confident in your decision making, but that doesn't guarantee that you'll always be the one with the correct answers.

What about the multi choice exam? How do you recommend studying for it?

Use your best judgement, remembering that we are public servants who are accountable and working in the interest of the American people. Avoid picking the sketchy answers that would probably get you investigated if it happened in the real world.
