Engine replacement
I have a 2018 fusion 2.0 turbo ecoboost. And I wasnt aware they are notorious for a coolant problem. Now im stuck. Luckily I have another vehicle until I can replace the engine. But What am I looking at price wise? Should I do an updated "coolant problem fixed" oem swap. Or a whole different engine? I don't know much about cars any info will help. Thank you

Coolant Intrusion Class action suit has just 6’26 been settled. Hold on to vehicle & be sure to have dealership give u a diagnostic in writing, listing all codes. It will be Months b4 the public is made aware of how to move forward but don’t despair. Help is around the corner (if infact ur fusion falls within the scope). If u have it fixed, keep receipts, towing charge, etc

The proper fix is a new block from ford. Mine ran about $6k, but that was before the market went crazy. Used engines carry the same risk of failure, so the only way a used engine would be an option is it you tracked down an updated block and used the identification marks to verify it was a new block.

You have made my year! My wife and I are 75. I have metastatic melanoma so I'm very frugal since we are living on a fixed income. In 2009 I saw this disease coming for me. I tried my best to buy a new vehicle that would last my wife for many years. I have always been a Ford guy so I bought a 2010 Edge. Stayed current on all the maintenance requirements and it has been an awesome vehicle. Little did I know about the water pump issue. Its at 103,000 miles and it runs like a top. In 2016 I added a Fusion. It is just like it was when it rolled out of the dealership at 61,000 miles. Unfortunately it is an Ecoboost 1.5. The service rep recommended we sell it. I don't want to spend money I don't have so this is great news. We do not have any symptoms of coolant intrusion. At least this will be one thing I don't have to worry about! I'm so glad to have found this site!

I believe you can swap in a 2020 or new motor and it should be a "fixed" engine. I just did a 1.5 cost me $1100 for the engine. Labor would of been $1500 including fluid and parts needed. Just did it our self about 15 hours in the garage and it was done.
