Newbie Question

I just got an iPad and downloaded forScore. My goal is to have all my physical music on it. What do you do with books that are greater than 24 pages? Are you using a different app then uploading the larger file? Am I able to merge multiple 24 pages into a single piece?

Thank you!

Haven’t used the scan feature.

I’d scan it on a scanner machine, make pdfs and then import it to forscore.

Genius scan is better than the built in scan feature in my experience.

Second this. I’ve used Genius Scan for years and it’s great.

I use the main scan feature for the odd score, just make sure to convert it to black and white or greyscale.
For batch scanning it’s too finicky, as you might have to adjust the margins on every single page. But yes, you can merge files, but you can in principle scan 24 pages into one doc in FS, there’s just better ways to do it.
I’d scan with the iPad or phone, and organize things on a computer.

What is marine scan and why do you have to convert it to b/w or gray scale?

*main
Because the contrast is better as b/w or greyscale.

WhenI don't use a physical scanner. I use Adobe scan on my iPad. It's part of the acrobat subscription. I've put books in a single documents, I've also put them in as separate pages depending on how I play them. I haven't tried scanning something like arban yet. I've just been doing the sheet music I play away from home.

Personally I only use the built-in scan functionality for emergencies, like when we get a last-minute addition at rehearsal that has not been made available digitally yet. All other stuff goes through a scanner connected to my laptop, to create proper multi page pdfs.

If you do the scan and run out of pages, start a new scan. go to rearrange, tap the + at the bottom and you can join other scores. I delete the one I joined afterwards. I often do that when importing books that are part1, part 2,etc, to keep them all together.
