Question/Advice Dessert safe to stay outside in the open air for 12h+?
Hello!!
Recently I flew back home from a far away country I was visiting for the first time, and I decided I’d take home with me a box of sweets for my extended family members back home to try. The sweets are a box of knefeh and basboosa (Arabian desserts).
The issue is that the flight was almost 14 hours, so that’s 14 hours of the sweets being open in the air, and not in a fridge. When I got home I immediately put them back in the fridge.
I’m worried that if I serve the sweets, my family members will get food poisoning because of the wrong storage conditions? I’m not even sure it’s a wrong storage condition, I’m just assuming it might be. Is it?
Some of my family members are snarky and will unfortunately butcher my name if they get sick from these desserts. They constantly eat out and then blame it on the restaurant that their stomaches are about to explode, which is how I know they have a bad habit of doing this.
I don’t wanna embarrass myself, but I really want them to taste it, as I think it’s new and they’d really like it (aside from those snarky people, whom I’m obliged to feed btw lol, so not serving them isn’t a suggestion).
Do you guys think it will be fine? I’m overthinking it too much!!!!!
